Is a new letter affirming the intention of marriage and support required for USEM?

That is exactly that I did.. for the most part.. as I forgot the LOI. I had to make sure all the financial stuff to support the I-134 was there, as well as the photos I printed from my visit two weeks ago and other evidence of our relationship. We are under a serious time crunch because I foolishly accepted the first available interview slot I saw, which was June 18... and USEM didn't get our case until 6/8/2014. I mistakenly thought that it was for the following week. D'oh!

So we have been scrambling to get things done. And it takes 4 days minimum for DHL to get packages from me in Arizona to Manila.. We have to ship to a cousin there in Manila because my fiancee lives 6 hours north and it takes 8 days minimum to get a package to her house, and that is with the fastest available option through DHL.

I called my fiancee at 4:30 in the morning (her time) today and told her she needs to go to Manila asap (6 hour bus ride) to go to do medical tomorrow (6/11) as the interview is a week later...

What a crazy ride!

I didn't grab the first available date for my wife. I gave us about three weeks to get any final shipping completed and the medical done. Time really starts flying when you reach that point, after dragging forever before that date. Turns out there was no last minute shipments. I thought the first package sent Fedex was the only one I would need, while we were waiting for the NOA2. But my wife came up with another huge list, which I held off on shipping just in case she had more items to request. It was a smart move as she did come up with more items she wanted to have. She hit me with the comment one time, when I said she shouldn't need something, "Well if you don't mind a delay if I don't have something". Put my brain into an entirely different track of thinking. She didn't need a fraction of the stuff I sent, but I've seen women needing some of those things at either the interview or the CFO.

I was not asked for the LOI from my fiance during my interview last Oct 2013. However, I did ask him to send it with the I-134 that he is also about to send for my interview. Hope your package get through in time! I can feel your excitement from here! It's nostalgic for me. :D

Seriously I would not stress about the LOI for the interview.

You have DHL up in Phoenix? They closed down the DHL delivery here a few years ago.

Yes, fortunately DHL is in Phoenix. Fedex isn't as fast. DHL seems the best for international shipments. If things don't get there by Friday we will have to cancel the appt and try again... *crosses fingers*

No need to cancel the appointment. Your fiancee will just be given a 221g for the missing requirements, which she can mail via 2Go. The delay may take up to a few days or weeks, but still way better than waiting for an interview date, which who knows when they will eventually appear.

Yes definitely do not cancel. Go and get it completed. The odds of needing the LOI is very low, and worst case is you just provide it later.

You have heard of a visa being held up for lack of the LOI? In the last 3 years? I have not read of anyone even being asked for the LOI.

I agree not needed and never asked for. If OP feels a need then like you said send one.

Are you referring to the I-134 and supporting documents? Do you have copies you can email? I would suggest not cancelling the appointment being they are so difficult to come by right now... send copies of everything just in case to bring to the interview, worse that will happen is getting a 221g for missing original I-134 and the delay from that will be a lot less then waiting for another appointment.

Hi! I had my interview June 3. I was not asked to show any (latest) proof of intent to marry although I brought copies of both our letters of intent that my fiancee sent with the I-129.

Ah good suggestion! Thanks for the advice :)

I have copies of everything in PDF. I have been sending them off to her via email and she can print in her town. This is a good idea and if DHL doesn't get there in time, I will do this. Thanks!

How was your interview? Were the questions tough? Did they want to see lots of evidence of your ongoing relationship?

You are going for a new "land speed visa record" - under 90 days from filing the petition to completion of the interview.

Haha, this was never intended! We were frustrated when we got the RFE and expected things to go much slower. Our goal with to have the interview first week of July since I will be in PH from July 21 to Aug 4 and then she could return to the US with me on that trip. Hopefully the interview goes well so that this can actually happen!

You are supposed to have one as it is on the list. But they never asked us for ours.

Letter of Intent on the list? Embassy instructions letter? Not actually listed. Or are you referring to the GUIDE on VJ? I find the GUIDE on VJ for the embassy phase to be an exercise is extreme paranoia, surprised it doesn't have "drinking from the wrong side of a glass" listed as well.

And as you confirmed... not asked for by the embassy. In the past three years I have found no one that had been asked for the Letter of Intent at USEM.
