I am confused coz someone told me that they will give me 1 year green then when I renew it I will need marriage contract with translate when they already have it . but how 1 year when I am IR1 and I should have 10 years green card . and about the work part to I need to fill something to get work permit . and how long I have to stay before I can visit my family after I receive my green card ? I am sorry guys I am asking a lot . thanks a lot

When you arrive in the USA the CBP (customs officers) will stamp your visa. That turns your visa into a temporary green card that is valid for 1 year.

Wait 2 weeks, if you do not get your SSN in the mail, then you must go to an SSA office to apply for one. Visit http://www.ssa.gov/ to find one near you and make sure you have the form and ID requirements.

Also, if you have not already, you need to pay the Immigrant Fee of $165 on the ELIS website here: http://www.uscis.gov/uscis-elis Your green card will not be produced until you pay this fee. You can pay it before you leave or after you arrive but do it before your temporary green card expires. You can track your green card's progress on the ELIS site.

Does that help?

NLR thanks a lot . sure it's helps but is that mean after I pay 165 $ they will mail to me the green card to me ? and how long I have to stay before I can leave USA ? do I will need any papers to get my green card or just paying 165 $ ?

When you enter the USA, the CBP officer will stamp your visa. That makes your visa a temporary green card valid for 1 year. They will write the date on the stamp. You could turn around and leave right away if you wanted to because you have a green card.

After you pay the $165, it takes about 1-3 months, sometimes a little more, to get the hard copy green card.

You do not have to wait for the hard copy green card to leave the USA.

However since you've waited this long to see your spouse, I'm not sure why you'd want to turn around and leave right away?? I am from Canada and it took 8 months for me to return to visit family, and only because it was cheaper than a particular family member coming to visit me for an equal period of time.
