All being well, I will be applying for citizenship in March of 2015. I would do it now but I need to save some money for the fees etc.

Under Part 1. Information about Eligibility, I will be checking number 2. Have been a permanent resident for 3 years and addition to you have been married to and living with the same US spouse for 3 years ....etc.

All is good until I get to Part 8, Question 1.

How many Total days did you spend outside the United states in the last 5 years?

At the time of application, I will have been in the US for nearly 4.5 years. So I will have to put down 182 days (approximate only, will know exact amount at time of application).

Will this effect my application? This seems to apply those who are applying for citizenship after being LPRS for 5 years.

Part 8, question 2 is easier but still a bit uncertain how to answer this. I will not have had any trips outside the US in the last 5 years. So that will be 0.But I have only lived in the US for 4.5 years of the last 5. So would the other 6 months be considered a trip?

The obvious answer to me is no.

Any guidance is appreciated.

If you are doing it on the 3 year rule, then you only answer those questions for 3 years.

The form should say it, but it doesn't.

Any guidance is appreciated.

I actually used a pen and crossed out "5" and wrote in "3". Harpa is correct. Answer for 3 years.
