Greetings all,

Is there a way to expedite or get humanitarian entry for the following situation ?

My Honduran Citizen wife (we were married in Honduras 6 years ago) and mother of our 5 year old son, was denied entry and her Visitors Visa canceled. I am a U.S. born citizen, our son is a U.S. Citizen Born Abroad and has a U.S. passport. We have an apartment in Matomoros, Mexico on the border at Brownsville, Texas. She does not have status in Mexico.

I had researched enough to know that my wife could apply for a change of status, when in the U.S. visiting. I overlooked that if you were considering a change of status, when asking permission to enter, you have your visa canceled and are deported.

Last week we learned my mother's cancer has returned, and is most likely terminal. We will learn more tomorrow, 5/29/14.

Any suggestions and advice are welcome. Maybe a way the U.S. has to provide for these situations, or the name of a person who may be able and interested in "pulling some strings".

Mom is 92, a Disabled Veteran of WW2 U.S. Army Nurse Corp. Her husband, my Dad, is a Disabled Combat Veteran of WW2 U.S. Army(deceased 2003). I need my wife with me to care for our son and help with my mother. I want Mom to spend her last few months with her youngest of only 2 grandchildren and my wife.

I will continue to read the forum and look for suggestions in existing posts. I wanted to ask for some help first.

Thanks for reading,

Bruce, stuck between Matamoros, Mexico and Central Texas.

Humanitarian Parole is the only thing that comes to mind.

Make sure you have plenty of medical evidence from the Hospital/Doctors.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

Greetings all,

Thanks for the responses, Boiler & RhettVoe.

MD Anderson Cancer Center provided a letter which "has worked thousands of times".

We were able to get a new B1/B2 from the U.S. Consulate in Matamoros and my wife was allowed to enter the U.S.. I had the letter from MD Anderson on June 5, and the new Visa on June 25.

If anyone would like to know more about my experience, I will be more than happy to answer any questions.

Thanks to all concerned,

Bruce

Hello Bruce,

Congratulations to you and your wife.

Yes, I would love to have the opportunity to know more about your experience as I am now needing to file a Humanitarian Parole, so I can reenter the US. I have a Vawa pending (after a RFE received last Decenber no news) but I now given a family situation I see no other way but to go with a HP. One of my questions is can I do it alone or do I have to hire an Attorney, and which form do I use since there were a few options on the official USCIS site.

Thank you very much in advance to you Bruce and to anyone who can contribute your valuable opinion.

Hello Motherslove,

I don't think I have much that will help, as we didn't file for Humanitarian Parole, but got a new B1/B2 (Visitors Visa) from a "higher up" at the U.S. Consulate in Matamoros (State Department, not Immigration), with a letter from the hospital. I found the Humanitarian Parole "thing" very confusing. It seems like there are various methods that are considered Humanitarian Parole, one being to go to the border and ask for Humanitarian Parole, as I was told by USCIS and the U.S. Consulate in Matamoros could be done. We did that and were told by the, I think #2 person at the bridge, that "they could do no such thing" and she "couldn't understand who would tell me such a thing". The various Humanitarian Parole "filings", I tried to figure out, all took longer than a malignant brain tumor allowed for, so I didn't get into those.

Good luck,

Gringo Bruce
