Phone call before interview?

My fiance's interview is one week from today. He received a phone call from somebody this morning speaking quickly in English and he didn't catch everything they said. But it was very short and they asked him to confirm they were talking to Mr ****** and then asked hey do you speak english? And he said yes. And they said something about not needing a translator then. Then they hung up. He has no idea who it was, but our guess is that it must have been the embassy. Anybody else get a phone call like this a week before their interview? He's so stressed that he might have missed some vital information!

We never received a phone call. There was a lady on here, from Egypt, whose fiance had received a phone call AFTER the interview asking him to send in his vaccination record and passport, but that's the only thing I've heard. The woman did say that the phone call was short and quick as well.

The Embassy has loads and loads of Arabic speakers as well as translators on hand, so they wouldn't need to call and ask before. He should still have the number in his phone and would know if it came from a mobile phone or a land line - and the Embassy only uses land lines.

Thanks, everyone. He's feeling a little more at ease from your replies. Did anybody else (or their fiance) have a nervous breakdown before the interview?

Mine was very stressed before the interview. He was even more nervous when the birds in the trees started depositing "treats" on many who were in line--him included .

Haha, my husband was so nervous too! I was really confident that it would go fine, but the day before the interview Ramy made me go to a coffee shop with him practice asking him all kinds of questions we thought the interviewer might ask, especially hard "worst case scenario" kind of questions like accusations we were already married or he wanted me only for the visa and stuff like that. He was SO afraid the guy would be rude to him. He was rude, after all, but what harm did it do? Rude and approval!
