I applied for a visa with the Atlanta Consulate over two weeks ago and have heard nothing. Getting a human on the phone is impossible. I have tried for days. Wondering how long it usually takes (their website said 5 days) and if driving there (8 hours for me) would do any good. I am set to leave for Nigeria on the 29th :(

I'm not sure about Atlanta but using the one in DC, it takes about 2 weeks (with the normal processing). If you expedite it, it only takes a week. The last time that I had to do this process, I actually had mine expedited and got it back within the 5 business day window. I hope that you get it back on time. Enjoy your trip and be safe.

I am deployed to Africa and I fly anywhere I want and buy a visa at the airport..............blue passports never have a problem.

Nigeria doesn't sell visas at the airport. Last time i was there someone from the same flight was being sent home for not having a valid visa ( his was a single entry and he had used it ) there is NO option to buy it at the airport

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.
