I-130 Acceptance vs NOA2

Hello everyone.

Could someone please tell me the difference between having one's I-130 application accepted versus 'NOA2'? I called the London Fields office of the US Embassy in London today, and was told that my I-130 application was accepted on the 15th May. However when asking when I'd receive my NOA2, the representative had no idea what I was referring to!

Many thanks!

NOA2 stands for Notice of Action 2 - I believe that's a VisaJourney abbreviation. It's actually form # i-797, Notice of Action http://www.uscis.gov/i-797-info

You sent a self addressed stamped envelope with your application packet. Right? It's on the checklist provided by USCIS in London. They will send you an approval notice in that.

Web page says--

Processing Times

Upon receipt of the I-130, USCIS will send an email to the U.S. petitioner or his/her designated attorney on record confirming the date the I-130/I-360 was filed. U.S. petitioners will then be able to view on this web page the date we are currently processing petitions. All I-130s/I-360's are adjudicated in the order they are received. We ask that you please refrain from contacting this office for status checks while your application is pending.

Did you get the email?

Next you get approval notice in your envelope.

Then case goes from USCIS office to Dept of State (consulate) Immigrant Visa Unit.

Next (might be 3-4 weeks) the beneficiary receives notification that the IVU has the case along with a new case number LNDXXXXXXX. At that point the beneficiary can do the rest of it....medical, visa application, readiness for interview document.

Then you wait a few more weeks to get an interview letter.

Then a few more weeks before appointment day.

Then about 2 weeks to get the visa/passport back.

This is the London way. It could be totally different in another country.

Thanks a lot Nich-Nick.

Yes, I did include a self-addressed stamped envelope with my original I-130 package, however I was really worried because I didn't receive an email or a text message (although I had included that information on the official request form along with the I-130). After looking through the forum, I checked my Junk Mail, however still no success. I was relieved however when, after phoning them today, they had told me that the application had been accepted.

I'm trying to be patient, however I'm just so concerned because the embassy haven't contacted me throughout these early stages, so I have no dates to measure my application's progress.

Nerve wracking when they don't do the things they are supposed to do. Another thing to change on your timeline. It says Texas Service Center. Your petition isn't processing there and it will throw off the VJ stats if your speedy approval gets attributed to TSC.

We sent ours off around March 24th 2014 - received the email on April 14th (in the spam/junk folder) saying they received it stating they were:

The Petition(s) for Alien Relative (I-130) that you recently submitted to this office has been

received and filed on April 11, 2014.

Since then we haven't heard anything. We also enclosed a self addressed stamped envelope but nothing has come back yet.

I-130/IR-1 visa by Direct Consular Filing in London:
8th Nov 2005 - Married in USA

16th Mar 2006 - Moved to London

22nd Feb 2008 - Received ILR
11th Apr 2014 - I-130 filed

14th April 2014 - NOA1

21st May 2014 - NOA2

30th May 2014 - Packet 3 received with LND #

(Intentionally delaying a bit due to work commitments)
