Thanks to everyone that replied. The insight from different angles is always helpful!

Agreed with the points raised by Torete and Texasav8r. You have to check with the embassy first when is the earliest availability for a B2 visa interview. From experience, the openings are typically about 1-2 months later, and another week for issuance. Might not be even worth it, just basing on the time frame.

My husband and I are also thinking of having a destination wedding in PI. Might work for you guys too. Best wishes in advance! :)

Many people on this very site told me that I should not bother to have my wife (fiancé at the time) to try and get a tourist visa to the states. Everybody said since she is single and does not have anything to tie her to her country, that it would be a complete waste of time, as she would get denied. After a couple days of work and $150 later... she got the tourist visa. SO it is definitely worth trying. The worst thing that happens is they say no... the best thing that happens is they say yes!

Filed: Country: Japan
Timeline

My in-laws applied for a tourist visa on May 11, were interviewed on May 18 (immediately approved) and are traveling to the US on May 26. It can happen. They are from Jordan.

Not in the Philippines due to Typhoon Yolanda expedites. USEM is booked solid, nothing available except if someone cancels and those slots are snatched up within minutes of becoming available again. Some dates in July are expected to become generally available "Soon".
