Hi there,

I live in Vancouver, BC and my fiancee lives in Seattle, WA. Twice a month i have been going down to the states and visiting him, and then coming back up and working and living here.

I have my visa interview coming up soon and I was wondering, (if everything goes well), once i am given my K1 visa, will I still be able to regularly visit my fiancee, yet still be able to come back work here for the time being? I was told that once I enter the states with the K1 visa, i must remain there until married, but is there a way to still be a simple visitor visa (the B2 I believe), and still come back and work in Vancouver for about 3 months until I am ready to move down? Or will I have to stay in Canada completely, until I am ready to move down.

Any help would be amazing! Thanks

I never say never; I just say I don't know of a way since I am not omniscient and would never want the burden of being omniscient.

My understanding is that once you have the K-1, you burn your one US entry pursuant to it the first time you cross the border after that regardelss of any other entitlements to cross the border you may have.

Once you have your K1 visa on your next trip to the USA you would have to activate it. After that you have to get married, file the AOS, and get advance parole to be able to return to the USA if you should leave.

So if you want to work another 3 months, you need to stay in Canada until such a time as you are ready to move. The visa is valid for 6 months from the medical date.

The other idea is, move your interview date to better correspond when you want to move.
