Hello,

I know there are a few existing post about this topic but they're from 3-4yrs ago. I recently received a checklist letter from NVC about my wife's police certificate. I did send the "green NBI certificate" they required, the thing is the purpose stated in that certificate is "Travel USA".

My question is could that be the reason why NVC sent me a letter for correction? Has anyone encountered this issue before?

I'd appreciate any reply/input.

Thanks,

Jon

i guess u need to call NVC to verify, coz it might be a 'false checklist' , it happened most of the time, but if ur wife lives abroad for more than 6 months, then another police clearance is also required from that country.

I'm guessing that's what it is, but I just wanted to be sure. That's my other problem, been trying to get a hold of them since this morning. They're either busy or they'll put me on hold for 40+ minutes. I'm currently stationed on Guam and long distance calling is not cheap. I'm trying my luck here on VJ to see if anyone has been in this situation. Thanks for the reply.

I had the same checklist too but when my husband called the nvc they said just ignore it if we already sent my NBI to them..they sent that checklist because they haven't check the docs yet...

"Travel USA" is very common on the certificate so there is no problem with that, as long as it is the green certificate that is all good.

The police certifcate letter from NVC is common also as they don't seem to understand what the NBI is at times. There are a few others on here have been through the process recently hopefully they will be posting soon. I agree with the "ignore it" comment.

That is acceptable. The checklist from NVC for all immigrant visa applicants across the globe is just a standard template, http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/immigrate/immigrant-process/documents/submit/documents-to-submit-to-nvc.html

If the applicant did not stay outside Philippines for 12 months or more (for IR-1/CR-1s), then you need not worry. The local police certificate which is the NBI clearance (Green) is all you need to submit. :)

If this is the same Checklist that I got from NVC (that gave my wife and I both a heart attack) you're OK.

We shipped our AOS out on the 8th of April, and shipped the DS-260 supporting documents the following week.

Two weeks after we got the DS-260 out, we got a Checklist of documents the NVC would need. We panicked thinking there was a problem with our supporting documents.

It turns out according to the NVC operator I got (who was very nice to calm me down) that the Checklist is automatically sent out following processing of the AOS.

So for those of us who get ahead of the game, it confuses us. Hope this makes sense.

Yes, it makes sense now. I got a couple of RFEs, including the NBI clearance. I know I've corrected all of them, that's why this one kinda freaked me out. I'll just wait and see. I just wish NVC had a better way of notifying petitioners/applicants, like a more detailed report, and a better phone system.

I appreciate your reply.

If your wife had a first marriage before you...she should write her name using her ex husband's famiky name in AKA ...if she already use your family name, then she should write her name when shes still single. Look ather NBI clearance theres a part there written AKA (also known as)

Just sharing this because during my friend's interview at US Embassy manila..this is what they had asked from her. She had a first marriage before her US citizen husband

She didn't have any prior marriage(s). All personal info is correct, my main concern was the stated purpose for the clearance. My question was pretty much answered now, I'll just wait on the next NVC instruction. Thank for sharing.
