Hi

I have applied for my No Impediment and Police records seeing that our Noa2 was approved... (see previous posts.)

Asked my fiancee (petitioner) to call the NVC to see if we have been assigned a case number.. Number was busy so i suggested that seeing that we are paying a lawyer to have them try getting through instead. Below is the response from our attorneys

you will receive a letter (we get a copy) stating that your application has been received at the local consulate and ready to proceed. It will give you a case number and a website to pay online. Once payment is received, you will be able to proceed with consular processing

Then I asked

and prior to getting this number? Also will u be doing the Ds160 applications on our behalf?

Response
We will prepare the applications for you. Have you had a medical exam/ physical done? If not, you can have that done while we are waiting for your petition to be forwarded to the consulate.
As i understand it, applying for the medical is done along with the approval letter and case number. Matter of fact I stopped by Andrews Memorial Hospital last week with my medical records and for my children to get an idea if we would require additional vaccines and the cost. The Visa section was closed but if i remember correctly they clearly stated that u were to have your letter. So for the attorneys to ask if I have done the medical or to suggest that i could go ahead and do it has me even more concerned?
Should I just leave it all alone and await instructions from the lawyers as my fiancee and I don't see eye to eye and feels am being anxious...

Your lawyer is useless and has no knowledge of current processes. You are being misinformed of the visa process.

Yes petitioner will receive a letter, but we did not receive ours until after our interview was already scheduled.

No, you cannot schedule medical appointment without interview date.

You can only pay fees at interview.

Thanks Pink, that's what i thought too, and for the lawyer to ask this makes me question their competence more

Well fiancee will be visiting next week. Hopefully I can show her the site and all the help others have received on here. Till then I have decided to just do nothing ..If it takes us longer than August to move there then, I wouldn't be the cause.

Am trying to get everything out of the way early but she wants to just do whatever the lawyers say when they say so...Am also trying to save on courier charges but this too won't matter I guess..

If the kids weren't involved I would just sit quietly and wait as admittance in school is crucial and from the looks of things 1 will have to sit out college for a year. Not to mention tht I can't travel as my visa had expired and I couldn't seek a renewal for the visitor visa seeing that we were doing the K1.

I can't wait for this process to be over!!

For a K-1 with no specific legal issues, hiring a lawyer is a HUGE waste of money. Especially when the lawyer only has dealt with VWP countries. JA's policies and procedures for immigration are totally different. If you do not follow their guidelines, it is months before you will be issued an interview date, and then you will receive a 221g for the proper documents.

Thanks guys

I messed up my phone tht's why i had asked her to call. But will be getting a replacement next week or maybe i can try using one of the kids later tonight and try....

At least we have agreed that having wasted 3.1 K on attorney fees I can take it from there for AOS ( savings of 3K attorney fee) but not before being told if we have to return home it will be all my fault.....So i will definitely be counting on u guys then.

Our case is very straightforward...no visa overstay, no criminal records, no name issues or divorce or anything...

Btw do i need to get a letter from their dad for them to migrate, they are 16 and 17
