Has anyone ever used a company called travel america inc?

They do promotional vacations through banks and car lots, etc.

We bought a car in june 2006 and received the "platinum passport" package (airfare & accomodations for 2, 3 days&2 nights in either las veags, orlando, san diego, san francisco or reno)

We sent our registration form in november and still didnt get no response. Today we called them up to see whats going on and they said they are booked out but we could give up our platinum passport package and instead get a cruise package (5 Day / 4 Night Cruise Departing from Miami).

We would have to pay for the airfare and the port costs... which would come out to $198 per person.

Anybody ever heard of Travel America Vacations Inc.?

Sounds like a time-share/scamish thing to me

There's a bit of information here: http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic-g2894...c-Missouri.html

I would definitely do your research before you have to pay for something that is supposed to be free

I'm sorry I don't know anything about this company. One thing however came to mind when I was reading your post however, is that if you took a cruise out of Miami, you'll be going to islands perhaps. As well, the ship itself might not be American, thus, you'll need AP before you could embark.

I received one of these certificates after purchasing a new vehicle.

I did some research on the company on google and found out they're a scam. They go by Travel America Inc, Travel America Vacations Inc and Travel America Vacations. You can find additional information on them through Trip Advisor.

One of our friends who purchased a vehicle from the same dealership told us to throw the certificate out as it's very difficult to use and you have to pay extra money which was a bit of a surpise. We thought it was entirely free.

I also found a couple of reports on them on Rip off reports and scam.com.

Be careful of these travel certificate companies. They are not worth your time or money. You're better off booking through a local travel agency.

According to the poster's timeline he or she has a 10 year GC, so no AP needed.

FYI ripoffreport.com has almost every company in existence listed on its site. It looks more like a site for people to ###### about things that are, in some cases, their fault. Not a great resource for determining if something is a rip-off, IMHO. SCam.com looks to be in the same boat.
