Hello to all my dear VJ friends, I am going to DR to visit my husband! I am unemployed (I do work here and there and also, I am working on part-time basis at a laundromat) but I have a joint sponsor that meets well over the 125% that is required by the federal government standards. This is my story; I dated my now husband from 2005 until late 2007 while I lived in the Dominican Republic. We have known each other since we were kids. We fell apart a little bit before I moved to the USA. I went on with my life and he went on with his. None of us succeeded. Back in November 2012 we found each other again and in may 2013 we got married! I filled form I-130 for him and his daughter (she is 5 years old and the mother has been gone since she was born) and both forms were approved. I am going to visit him on Monday and I am worried that when it comes time to the interview, they may deny the visas. I have been in my country three times in less than three years. I am not working and I am a single mom. Last time I visited my husband was last year when my ENTIRE FAMILY flew down for our wedding. I am going there now with my daughter to visit him for 14 days. Am I spending enough time according to government standards? I really will appreciate any suggestions on this. I think that I will be completely destroy if these petitions don't go through. I have been through so much to finally get them to the US. We have so many hopes and dreams.

There is no requirement "spend enough time according to government standards" together.

The requirement is a real marriage and not one for an immigration benefit.

You have a Joint Sponsor.

You will be fine.

Don't worry yourself to death.

Best if luck.

Thank you! I am noticing that it is pretty normal to stress out about this whole process.

what government standard? As long as you have a bonafide marriage with evidence to back it up you will be fine. Good luck!

Thanks for your reply. You see, the problem is that you hear so many stories from different people about immigration theories that you really don't know what to believe, lol. When you talk to friends and family about this, they all know something and for the most part, that something usually freaks you out! I am very confuse about bonafide marriage evidence. This is what I have: Marriage certificate, letters from friends and family that know about our relationship, we talk daily through Whatsapp, we don't have a joint bank account because we don't live together yet and we are very clear about finances at this time. He has a daughter to take care of as well as I do. He takes care of us (my daughter and I)when we go there. We have lots of pictures together which include my family and his family. Both my parents and brother and sister love him. My daughter and his daughter get along so great. What else do I need? What am I missing? Please let me know if you think of anything else that might be helpful ?. PS, I have the stamps on my passport for the times that I have been there.
