Visa expires this week!!!

Hi everyone, Luisa's K1 Visa expires the 14th of this month, my question is what happens if I do not get all the paperwork completed and mailed before the expiration date of her Visa?? We got married last weekend and already have the Marriage Certificate on file with the State of Colorado. I am trying to get all the forms filled out and mailed this week, but there is alot of info to compile and fill out.

Specifically right now I am waiting for her mom to fax me a copy of the Birth Certificate (seems we don't have a copy with us) and I am trying to find this I-693A form. All the other forms are complete and ready to mail.

Argh!!! I thought the first part of the process was stressful, this is alot of paperwork still left to complete and it seems like more months of waiting for everything to be completed.

As long as you are already married you can relax--you don't have to file for AOS before the expiration date on her visa. It expired once you were married anyway.

You have nothing to worry about as long as you married within 90 days of her entry into the U.S. The expiration date of the K-1 visa is no longer important.

Just try to get the AOS documents in as soon as you possibly can.

The I-693A needs to be filled out by a civil surgeon. They keep them at their office and you don't need to bring one with you.

The only thing that Luisa has to do before her visa expires is leave for an uninterupted trip to the USA. Since you married her here in the USA she has apparently done that already.

Somehow I think that it's not the expiration of her visa that is of concern .....

you are good.

when you get the visa, you have 90 days to get married. if you say "i do" within that 90 time frame, you are as cool as a cuke. if not, at the end the 90 days is when the visa expires.

but, from the sound of it, you guys got married, so you are on easy street now!
