Thanks for the advice in here, just booked Bristol- Dublin - Boston on July 2nd. It all feels very real now!![/]

Eek! Good luck!

I saw the letter J and 2nd and thought we were flying on the same day, but then realised you're flying a whole month after me :P I need to wake up! It's obviously too early for me.

Good luck with the move.

Your flying two weeks before me through Dublin too, but we are getting married on the same day!! How cool!

London to Johnstown, PA through Dulles is £1200 1 way. From Dublin it's £650.. Absolutely no idea why!

Aer Lingus is much cheaper one way than all the others.. i think the other major carriers price based on return..

It's just more expensive from London in general

If i fly Aer Lingus from London to Washington Dulles (Aer Lingus don't fly to Johnstown, only United do that stretch) then it's £800 one way

If i fly Aer Lingus from Dublin to Washington Dulles it's £600

Plus a £50 flight from Luton to Dublin, i am still paying less lol

And the hotel cost?

Did you try multiple destinations search?

For example Expedia

Flight 1: Wed. Jun. 11, London (LON) to Washington DC, United States (WAS)

Flight 2: Wed. Jun. 11, Washington DC, United States (WAS) to Johnstown, PA, United States (JST)

Flight 3: Thu. Nov. 6, Washington DC, United States (WAS) to London (LON)

£752 and done in about 11 hours. Better than some of the prices.

Doesn't matter about what return you book because it would be cancelled.

It's true a return ticket through London is a lot cheaper than one way, don't see why.

My worry is Dulles, I've spent hours in CBP before just waiting because the queues have been huge. I think the max lay over between getting to Dulles and the flight to Johnstown is 5 hours so it is possible but I've heard so much about how quick ad easy Dublin is for CBP

Thank you for that though Nich, it gives me more options, my fiancee is here in 2 days so i'll discuss and book :)

On another note, i haven't seen a flight search provider that does multi destination but with a one way ticket, i guess that doesn't exist

So just curious, if you've done your POE in Dublin and then say you had a layover in Chicago before your final destination how do you get through Border Control in Chicago? Or do you just enter the airport directly from Dublin like you would if you were flying domestic in the US?

Planes will land at an international gate/terminal if a trip through immigration is required. Otherwise they will land at a domestic type gate. Everybody who got on the plane in Dublin was already cleared, so they are basically like a domestic flight for arrival.

At the weekend I picked up a one way ticket - Gatwick to LAX on 23 July for £581. Just three days earlier it was £499.

I'm flying with budget carrier Norwegian, and includes two checked bags. I'm arranging a third checked bag, also a bicycle. Oh and you have to pay for meals too, but its still massively cheaper than the nearest carrier. Air New Zealand is around £800, and Virgin a whopping £1,300 for a similar ticket!

I'm reading reviews of this airline from dubious to downright disgraceful, but i'm led entirely by price at this stage. And i'm sure there's some suitable medication to simply knock me out for 11 hours...

Up, up and away.

I surprised her with a proposal in Los Angeles, and this is how it went down!

I had a similar situation.

The cheapest flight was with Icelandair for £495 (which I have booked from Heathrow to Seattle via Iceland), which includes 2 checked bags but have to pay extra for meals. The next carrier wanted £800 and that was for only one checked bag! And after that the price kept increasing with Virgin charging over £1200.

Soo excited to have finally booked the ticket!!!

Last month I heard Norwegian was striking from an Irish couple that was worried about getting home.....

Are they the only carrier to your final destination (codesharing included)? Then you are probably ok.

I do believe they are the only carrier out of Gatwick to LAX, yes. There are other carriers from Heathrow, however.

Fingers crossed all is ok.
