I need to fill out all the correct paperwork for the Adjustment of Status Paperwork so my husband can get a green card. He is here on a visitor visa and we had gotten married last week. Someone had posted the link on assembling the 1-130 form and the i-485 form. I see they are 2 different packets, one of my questions is that for both packets it asks to fill out G25A form, asks for a certified copy of your marriage license, along with certified divorce papers. Do you have to submit these for both packets or only for at least one. I am so confused on what type of order i a suppose to submit these forms in and exactly what forms, i guess its because i dont exactly know the meaning of the forms and the purpose. If there is someone that can help me or even maybe become a friend on here that went through the same process i would greatly appreciate it. I dont want to have to go through an attorney but i am very confused.

You need to submit the required documents per each form. So if both the I-130 and the I-485 are asking for a certified copy of the marriage license and divorce decree and G-325A form then submit the same documents twice.

You can submit photocopies of the required documents (marriage license, divorce papers, birth certificates etc...) and make sure you bring the original/certified copy to the interview so they can verify them.

my thoughts to you is to work your way through one form at a time to avoid stressing yourself. Read the instructions for each form very carefully - you can download them from the USCIS.gov website.

Here's the order you can tackle them:

I-693 (Medical) get started on this ASAP as it'll take a few days to complete.

I-130 - both you and your husband each submit a G-325A.

I-485 - only your husband will need to submit a G-325A.

I-864 (Affidavit of Support)

I-765 (EAD-Employment Authorization Document)

I-131 (AP-Advance Parole)

Filing fees are $420.00 for the I-130. $1070.00 for the I-485 (this includes the I-765 & I-131).

For the I-693, you'll need to find a civil surgeon in your area to perform the medical and the cost varies widely.

Make sure to sign all the forms and mail all of them together in the same envelop organized in an orderly fashion.

A cover sheet outlining what you're including with each form is a good idea.
