Affidavit of Support Fees

Hello. My name is Aakash Mehta. I have filed I-130, Petition for Alien Relative for my wife. Our I-130 got approved and now the case is in NVC. NVC asked me to submit form DS-261 online and along with pay the fees for Affidavit of Support that is $88. I submitted the form DS-261 online and paid $88 fees for Affidavit of Support.

What will be my next step? Where can I submit Affidavit of Support form? Also, when I sign in to the ceac.state.gov website, in my account, there is another fee that says IV application fees $230. What is that? Do I need to pay that fee?

When you paid the AOS fee you were free to send in your AOS package.

The $230 fee is the IV (Immigration Visa ) fee you must pay. Once you pay that you are free to send in your IV package.

Aakash: Roughly the steps at NVC are as follows:

1. Complete the Choice of Agent form DS261 online.

2. Submit the AOS Fee of $88

3. As soon as the fee shows PAID and/or the money is drawn from your bank account, send in the AOS package: I-864, Tax Transcripts etc. Make sure to attach the bar coded sheet on the top.

4. Wait for the DS261 to be processed to pay the IV fee of $230.

5. Once the IV fee shows PAID send in your IV package (civil documents). Make sure to attach the bar coded sheet on the top.

6. Now wait for your case to be completed. You will get a Case Complete email (about a week after your case is actually approved).

7. Now wait for the interview to be scheduled and the interview letter email to arrive.
