I am now applying K1 visa for my fiancé (in China). He is going to schedule an visa interview sometimes next month. My question is that I did not make enough income last year since I was just a part-time teacher. It was my first year having a job. My 2013 US Individual income tax return form showed that my total income is $11400. I know it is below the poverty line for 2013. Now I am not sure if I need to ask someone else to fill in another I-134 for my fiancé as a joint sponsor.

I do have an original statement from my employer said that I will be teaching there next school year, 2014-2015, and my salary sets $60000. I already signed contract with the school.

It is difficult to find someone to fill I-134 for me because my family is not in US. All of my friends are students still, and their income do not meet the poverty line as well.

Since it is I-134 form not a I-864 form, in my situation, do I necessary to find someone else to be a joint sponsor. Any suggestions? Thanks!

So, are you saying you are currently unemployed and won't start receiving the $60k salary until sometime later? A job offer letter of future employment cannot be used to satisfy the affidavit of support. You need to research how strict your consulate is about the financials to know exactly what you need to present for the interview there.

I do have a job now, but it is just a part -time teaching job. Since I just started having this job in August, 2013, the tax income is only from August to December, that's why it was so low on the tax form. However, if it counts twelve months, it is about $25000 this year. It is higher than the poverty line.

How to research out whether or not the consulate is strict on the financials?

Your CURRENT annual salary, along with the letter of employment CAN be used to satisfy the concern that your fiance not become a public charge. The I-134 is only ONE piece of evidence that the VO must consider. The I-134 should show your current annual salary of $25,000. I would include a cover sheet which would state simply the time period for the $11,400 (and that you were a student), the current 12 month salary of $25,000, and your job offer and the time period it covers, along with a copy of the job offer itself.

Getting a co-sponsor is a good idea if you can find one, but may not be necessary.
