Muhammad Mosa Khan, also known as "Musa," appeared in a Pakistani court this week, one of 30 people accused of trying to steal gas and murder police by stoning them to death. Musa is 9 months old.

According to charges filed Feb. 1, Musa attacked workers of a state-run gas company and tried to pelt police with stones.

At his court appearance, baby sat on his grandfather's lap and was granted bail. His next hearing was scheduled for April 12.

The child's father said police had registered a fake case against him, his son and the others, who were actually protesting, not trying to steal gas.

"Our crime is that we had protested against non-availability of electricity in our locality," he said, according to the Times of India.

Punjab's Chief Minister called for "stern action" against the officials who brought the case against the infant. The assistant superintendent who filed the charges has since been fired.

I am surprised someone hasn't said yet it's because the baby is the wrong religion...

But, I am convinced from this never to move to Pakistan. I am not sure if a 9-MONTH-old on trial for murder is funny or horrible. Can it be both?

(Reuters) - Relatives of a nine-month old baby charged with attempted murder in Pakistan have taken him into hiding, one said on Tuesday, in a case that has thrown a spotlight on Pakistan's dysfunctional criminal justice system.

...

"Police are vindictive. Now they are trying to settle the issue on personal grounds, that's why I sent my grandson to Faisalabad for protection," the baby's grandfather, Muhammad Yasin, told Reuters, referring to a central Pakistani city.

The baby is on bail and due to appear at the next hearing on April 12 but Yasin said he was not sure if he would take him to court for the case.

...

"He does not even know how to pick up his milk bottle properly, how can he stone the police?" Yasin asked journalists at the court last Thursday.

If it is really true then folks the society we live in is facing a severe rarity of moral values. Who is going to protect us from our protector called police.. It is really sickening . Things have become devalued in Pakistan to the point where people don't realize the repercussions, that they're devaluing themselves. It could end up bringing about chaos, a lawless situation. Which in fact is the case anywhere you go in Pak land… we really need to rise up and do something about it before it is too late…it make me feel as if something inside has died and I cannot hide and I cannot take it anymore….

Every time I am convinced we have hit rock bottom, somebody proves me wrong. The irony is the players are the same and since we cannot get rid of the rotten judiciary, political system and the list goes on, I have to believe there is no hope.

I am wondering why this case has not been dismissed. What kind of proof this Judge want. How in the world a small baby can be indicted. Shame on our corrupt police and inept judiciary. Still judiciary want to drag this case. I am totally aghast about this whole case. Why only suspension of the policeman why not dismiss him from his job and charge him for his malafide intentions.Definitely it is a case of bribery also. But who took the money from accuser side.
