Will embassy Frankfurt just give me an appointment or will I be able to schedule?

Hi everybody,

I am wondering if the embassy in your home country (once it receives paperwork from overseas) will just send you a date for an appointment or do you schedule an appointment with them once you have mailed in all necessary paperwork (police reports, etc...). So pretty much if they send me the packet could I let it sit there for a couple of weeks and then submit everything and then they would give me a date?? I am Germany, so my embassy is in Frankfurt.

Specifically asking because I am planning to travel to the US and be out of the country for a while. We have been waiting for our NOA2 for 5 months and no news, so I want to spend some time with my fiance.

Frankfurt sends you a date after you have provided them with all the documents and forms specified in the checklist/packet 3. You may be able to reschedule, but I would not recommend it as it may drag out the process even further.

K1 Visa

March 8, 2012: NOA1 (VSC)
August 30, 2012: NOA2
