Tax question

Okay so what tax form do I use if I am filing as married? He didn't work last year so I am the only one filing. And, we bought a car in August 2005 so where do we put that? or do we just not put that anywhere?

I suppose you'd use form 1040 unless you can / want to use the 1040-EZ. As for the car, what are you looking for - deduction of the sales tax paid?

Have you tried using Turbotax on the web? It is free to prepare , they only charge for filing. The process of preparing is Q& A based so they will lead you to all the anwers you need. Which form you file, like ET said, is a function of how much you made (and other things I think)...

I didn't make all that much...I am a full-time student and made under 10,000. I don't know too much about this financial stuff so I thought our car could be put somewhere. If not, then it's fine. So 1040 EZ?

Thanks for the help. I just don't want to pay a fee when I won't even get all that much back. I have been filing the 1040 EZ thusfar all by myself...I hate deviating from my normal routine...it's causing stressss...

You wont pay a fee for just preparing the return on Turbotax. You only pay a fee for filing.

Use turbotax to prepare.. ten print out what they've done.. and redo it yourself manually.

If you got IRS.gov they have a free service http://www.irs.gov/efile/article/0,,id=118986,00.html

Lists a bunch of services that will do your taxes for FREE if you make under a certain amount of $$$$$$, and by the looks of things you will qualify! I have had friends use it with success!!
