Could use some assistance!

My wife and I turned in our I-130 on January 30th and our I-129F on March 10th. I am getting some mixed information about the time period I'm looking at till we get our interview. I see on the USCIS webpage it says processing times for each packet is 5 months. It was my understanding that after the 5 month processing time we'd then be scheduled for our interview in Moscow. I was hoping for July sometime but from looking at other timelines here it seems people are waiting almost a year for their interview date.

I have been thinking about moving with my wife somewhere as we are waiting for our interview but if It's only going to be 3 or 4 months we'll probably wait it out, if it will be longer I'd like for us to move together somewhere. With the situation in Ukraine, Russia, and the responses from the US, I would prefer that we are together and somewhere neutral.

Can anyone give me some information about this, is there much more to the process after the I-130's are processed. I'm trying to get my head around all the steps and processes but I'm still a bit behind I'm afraid.

July is not going to happen without an expedite.

After your I130 approval, you have to go through the NVC and then wait for your interview. I filed March 2013, and am in the middle of my time at the NVC. I'm not expecting him to have his visa in hand until June or July of this year. If it happens before then, I will be truly and honestly shocked.

Look at my signature. I was just approved YESTERDAY. it hasn't even been 24 hours yet...

11 months and 6 days. When I filed the processing times were posted at 6 months. If I learned one thing during this process.... its that they are all liars at the USCIS. Nobody really knows what is going on. There is no "set" processing time and you get different answers to your questions every time you call. There is a huge backlog which they say is being taken care of but if I were you, I'd pull up a comfy chair and grab a snack... you may be a while. Probably not 11 months like me, just don't put all your eggs in one basket. Read read read this forum. you get better answers here than when you call the USCIS.

I hate to be Debbie Downer, I just want you to know that the posted processing times are all for show.

Thanks for your help!! I had a feeling the 5 months was too good to be true. I asked my lawyer but I haven't gotten a response, figured I'd see if some of you could assist. I do appreciate it!!

I have an attorney also... He told me 6 months.

Before you go running off to live with your spouse, read the NVC thread about what is required if you live abroad to establish domicile in the US. If you can do all that, then go for it. If you can't prove domicle during the NVC stage, it will delay your process. You may end up coming back before her to get a job, housing etc..
