and my fiance is approved for a visa...

what do you think the chances are of him flying home with me??

we haven't set a date for the interview yet, he needs to pay that this week... but we are shooting for May so that he has time to gather his papers.

I intend to be there during the interview and bring him home with me if i can.

also...

does the form DS-160 expire? if he was to sign his ds-160 this week and set the interview for May, would it still be valid??

Thanks in advance.

Great to hear you will be there for his interview. It is possible for him to fly back with you, but it will be tough to predict a date that he will have the Visa in hand. That's the challenge. I went to my fiancee's interview, and then flew back to Guam alone. I went back to the PI the following month to fetch her after she received her passport and had enough time to pack and say her goodbyes. The whole visa process taught me not to leave things to chance, but that's just me. Good luck.

thanks... ya i don't like leaving things to chance either, but it would be awesome to arrive together. i especially want to be there when he goes thru customs... you're from guam.. you know how vicious some of those guys are lol... i have friends who are officers and i think they might mess around with him.. oh my!

i guess its ok if we don't come back together... as long as I'm there... thats important..

btw... what was the interview like from the petitioner's point of view?? and was it a long wait?

Depends. How long after the interview are you planning to stay in the Phils?

DS-160 will still be good.

well i have 3 weeks worth of leave, but I'm only planning to use 2 weeks for PI

i want to arrive at least 2-3 days prior to his interview, whenever that is...

i had this crazy idea that we would go thru the interview and have enough time to get the visa and for him to attend the seminar... then come back together and i would have that 3rd week to just spend time with him and get adjusted.

hmm... i highly doubt it would happen that way, but it would be awesome!

as for the ds-160... good to know.

You may get lucky and he will get his visa in time for you to fly back together. I hope so.

I like your idea about taking a week off when he arrives in the U.S. That's what I did when Chinook arrived in the U.S.

I'm hoping it goes that way, but I wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't. oh well...

Ya I figured I didn't want to go straight to work after coming back.

If we don't get to fly back together, I would just save the week off for when he does arrive.

Good point about Guam Customs, and yeah sometimes they do their jobs to the extreme.

You can always go back to pick him up. You may think it costs more, but if you consider the potential re-booking fees and penalties for 2 tickets it comes out almost the same as your one ticket to go the second time. Just food for thought.

For me, it was a great benefit to be there. I've written about it on a few posts as well as my review of the US Embassy in Manila. The CO asked me just as many questions as my Fiancee. I think it was like 3 questions each. We were confident and I had assembled a ton of evidence so we were very well prepared. I do have to say we had a long long wait. If I remember correctly, we arrived sometime around 6:00 AM for a 7:30 AM interview and we were done sometime past 1:00 PM. We spent the time relaxed and talking about other things like what to eat for lunch. LOL
