I'm looking for some information about moving to the US and hope there are some people on here who can help!

I'm a Canadian who has US citizenship but was born and have lived in Canada all my life. My American parents moved to Canada before I was born. My question is about moving to the States, working there, and the implications for my Canadian spouse visa and work-wise. Does my citizenship make a difference in my spouse being able to work in the US? Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks!

You can move to the US anytime you like since you are a citizen. Your spouse will need the appropriate work or family visa to live and/or work in the US. Just being married to a US citizen does not grant the person any rights to come live or work in the US.

The easiest way for your spouse to come to the US will be for you to file for the CR-1 visa. You will need a US source of income or US based assets that meet 125% or the poverty level or a joint sponsor that meets these requirements. You will also need to prove a domicile in the US at the time of the interview.

Your spouse could also find an employer who is willing to sponsor her for an employment visa.

Or your spouse could apply for a student visa.
