Hi everyone, recently my wife and I got approved for NOA2 and now we are close to get the first package . This mean support papers and here is my question . My wife worked the entire 2013 year but in December she lost her job. She has her taxes from 2010-2011-2012-2013 and all her bank accounts and extra income ready to be submitted however if NVC ask for an employer letter now she is unemployed and she is receiving EDD ... Should we include EDD documents or should we send a letter as self employee ...( her profession is a professional photographer and she used to be self employee) what we should do ?

As long as she meets the income requirements you should be fine. What's normally asked for are check stubs or tax transcripts or returns.

if her taxes returns show income that meets the requirements (poverty limit) than you guys should be fine.

Make sure the 2013 tax return meets the criteria.

I believe the other comments above are incorrect. You better double check with NVC and also have a sponsor ready & available because if I remember correctly, I hope other people who already went through this process, can also comment. They want to know proof of a current employer, current position & current income too.

Be prepared for a CHECKLIST/RFE to show how is your spouse going to prove that she will support you when you arrive to America if she is currently unemployed?

Getting here is one thing but the important reality is it takes time to get things in order to secure a job. It is now 6 months since my husband's arrival and just yesterday he found a job. Hamdollah

Good luck & best wishes

I went this process (I-130) for a previous marriage and for my mom and dad.

I know from experience that if your 2013 tax returns (current) show an adjsuted gross income that meets the criteria, everything should be fine.

It helps to show that the income for the last three years meets the criteria also.

To be safe, get a job letter also, you never know.

Good luck
