But we don't know that. Mere speculation.

Precisely the reason facepalming is sometimes warranted. There is little concrete information; and combined, the authorities of several countries are still trying to make sense of what may have happened. Yet, some believe their assumptions hold any gravitas.

You must feel a lot of shame when so many millions of your faith celebrate the killing of innocent civilians.

To be abundantly clear, the 'many millions' supporting Radical Jihadist Islam are to the average actual Muslim as the Snake Charming Christian sects are to the average Christian. They may use similar language, names, and claim faith to the same books and prophets but they far more different than alike.

I'm looking at this region in a map for the first time and I'm surprised at how close the island of Great Nicobar is to the Malacca Straits. No one would know if a plane landed there. It's completely cut off from civilization.

Can their runways take a 777-200 ? The questions is whether an aircraft of that size could have landed there. Furthermore, if that were the case, someone would have seen it and reported it by now...

I'm not even sure they have runways.

It's protected land. A tribe of pre-agricultural people and a bunch of trees and hills and rivers.

They do have an airport but it is not listed as an alternate to any of the major airports, which may indicate it does not have a long runway.

When you say someone, are you talking about the Malaysian military that controls the flow of information in this region, and also withheld information the airliner's actual location? Or, are you talking about a fisherman or villager who may have seen the plane in the dark of night?

Interesting.

Yeah - if I were the lead investigator on this, I'd be checking the backgrounds on all the passengers, including the flight crew. Then I'd check the backgrounds of the ground crew that last handled the plane before flight.

If you were the lead investigator on this, you would be too busy calculating the carbon footprint of the search and rescue effort to actually report out on anything else.

Okay, it appears my knowledge of that island is severely dated. You're right, there's an airport. 3,500 feet long.

Thing is, the airport is part of a Naval base. I had no idea that was there...

That was a robbery, not terrorism. A little different IMO. Still bad, don't get me wrong.

Just trying to draw the parallel that sometimes it's not a radical Muslim.

Perhaps the Muslims would still be alive. I am sure we can hope for that Han Chinese maybe not so lucky.

I'm not sure an explosion would exclude someone because of their faith. Let's hope and pray everyone is alive. Each life is scared, even if we don't agree with how they live it.
