Obama, as usual, has his head in the sand. Thoughtful analysis that tells it like it is...

http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2014/mar/03/my-brothers-keeper-obama-black-families-wedlock

Excerpt below from theguardian.com

On Thursday at the White House, President Barack Obama unveiled a new initiative, created through executive order and partnering with businesses and foundations to spend $200m (maybe) over five years, “to help young men of color stay out of prison, stay out of jail”.

What an aspiration!

“This is an issue of national importance,” Obama said of his My Brother’s Keeper program, aimed at black and Hispanic men. “It’s as important as any issue that I work on.”

What a wonderful realization for the nation’s first black President to acknowledge! And with the parents of Trayvon Martin and Jordan Davis behind him, no less!

Sadly, the message to minorities – and blacks in particular – is that we blacks can’t be expected to take individual responsibility for our lives like our white counterparts ... so the government has to do it for us. Blacks should find Obama’s assumptions more than disturbing. Young black men wouldn’t be wrong to find My Brother’s Keeper downright offensive. And everyone should realize that the first black president is not holding blacks accountable to the same standards as whites when it comes to parenting.

Absolutely could. And I do care - it is a mater of national importance. And you could not have read the article in the short amount of time since I posted it.

Then what are you doing about it?

Really? Obama has been very clear on the need for black fathers to be there for and take part in raising their children. He's been very critical of the disintegration of the black family. That's been a constant theme throughout his Presidency. That theme actually started when he was running for the office back in 2008. One would expect the folks at The Guardian to be better informed.

Alas, an op-ed in a foreign tabloid can't possibly be wrong!!! It must be true! As it is true that Elvis is alive and strolling along Sunset on Sunday nights, as reported by the Enquirer.... Edited by Gegel

Ah, but they're a left-wing British broadsheet, so they don't really deal in reality. whistling.gif

Well, then. There you have it.

Or one could dig just a little deeper and take a look at the op-ed author: Crystal Wright is the principal owner of the Baker Wright Group, LLC and blogs at Conservative Black Chick.

Maybe this isn't some left leaning piece after all but yet another ill informed conservative hating on the President. What do you think?

Then one might expect to see it in The Telegraph, not the Guardian. ;)

Doesn't matter where it appears, it's an ill informed piece of hack.

I believe it does, in this case. It is quite possible they resorted to publishing an op-ed in a British tabloid because they couldn't get any traction with the media in the US. Chances are even our local smut papers refused the piece. It does speak to the lack of credibility of the source and gravitas of content.
