Interview next week and I'm nervous that I'll have messed up a form somewhere and we'll lose a month, so I was hoping you guys could help me out with filling out my I-864s. I know some of these are dumb, but I want to be 100% sure.

I've got two to file, my USC wife's and her stepmother's, who is the joint sponsor. She (joint sponsor) has filled out most of the form and signed it, and left a few things for me to fill (case number and some address/name things). I assume, since I'm filling out parts of it, I also fill out part 9 - "Information on Preparer, if prepared by someone other than the sponsor"?

For part 1, my USC wife selects 1a and the joint sponsor selects 1.d, yes?

For part 2 question 5, Alien Registration Number - do I have one of these? I know I have an LND number, but that has way more characters?

For part 5 (household size), does my USC wife enter just myself and herself?

For part 6 (sponsor's income and employment), does my USC enter her UK income for question 5? And does she enter me as Person 1 in 6a/b?

My joint sponsor has sent me her tax return for 2013, should I include this? She has filled out the form with 2012 as the most recent year, should I print out and refill this page starting with 2013? Similarly, my USC wife has not filed for 2013 as she didn't live/earn in the US for any part of the year, am I ok to go with 2012/2011/2010, or should I get her to file with no earnings for 2013 and bring with?

Sorry again for all the questions, but as I say I really don't want to fall at the final hurdle. THANKS!!!

Preparer...no don't put your name there.

For part 1, my USC wife selects 1a and the joint sponsor selects 1.d, yes? YES

For part 2 question 5, Alien Registration Number - do I have one of these? PASS. Probably not, but I haven't ever actually seen a London USCIS approval notice. Does it have any number that is written A123456789 or A 123 456 789.... Anything starting with an A. It's on the NOA2 when people file at Chicago.

For part 5 (household size), does my USC wife enter just myself and herself? YES

For part 6 (sponsor's income and employment), does my USC enter her UK income for question 5? Only if she will continue that same job and income from the US.

And does she enter me as Person 1 in 6a/b? No, unless you are currently working in the US or can prove you wil have the same job/employer after moving.

Tax returns. Use most recent. Mom's is 2013 because it is filed. Re-do the page.

Wife is okay not having filed yet. She has until April 15 before they require 2013. So use 2012 as her most recent.

Make sure you have documentation that Mom is a USC to submit with her Affidavit of Support.

For part 5 (household size), does my USC wife enter just myself and herself? YES

I am looking at the form right now and I'm a bit confused.

1. Enter the number you entered on line 7 of Part 3 - it has to be (1) (if you're just sponsoring 1 person)

2. Yourself - so, it's another (1)

3. If you are currently married, enter "1" for your spouse - again, (1).

8. Add lines 1-7 and enter the number - that makes it (3)....but that's counting the spouse (beneficiary) twice.

FYI: in my case, I guess that Household Size would be 4 (?) Line 6 asks about whether or not a person has sponsored someone else, who is now a LPR. I have sponsored my ex-wife, long time ago, so am I correct with my calculations? I believe, the author of this thread, or his wife, should also put 3 and not 2.

You do not count anyone twice. Line 3 is ZERO, because your spouse is the person you are sponsoring and is already listed on line 1.

If you have another affidavit of support still in effect, you would put that number onto line 6, yes.

Yeah, I thought of that "Do Not Count Anyone Twice" warning, but then when I came to Line 3, I became confused ;)

About my previous AOS, I highly doubt it is still in effect, for it's been 13 or 14 years since I filed it and I'm sure my ex-wife has worked out her 40 credits since then - making my AOS obligation fulfilled. Thing is, the AOS only asks whether or not one has previously sponsored someone who is a LPR now. My ex-wife still is. Although, she has filed her N-400. I think, it's better safe than sorry to mention her, rather than not. The household number isn't going to make much difference to me, for I will still be needing a joint sponsor.

Just realised the signature on Mom's I-864 is dated January 4th, taxes were filed about a month back - I should leave it with the 2012 taxes as most recent, right?

Sorry this is the dumbest question I could ask but I just want to be sure - page 1, on the left hand side you've got question 1, so fill in name and whether petitioner/joint sponsor etc. Then Part 2 name of immigrant (me), then on the right hand side you have mailing address and date of birth - is this for sponsor or immigrant?

Another one - my wife will use her parents address as domicile as that's where we'll live when we get there/where her bank stuff is sent etc - should mom list her under part 5, and if so, as 5 or 7?
