Hi VJ Members

So... The big day is Tuesday for our AOS interview...

I would like to list what we have and see if any members who have had an AOS Interview think this is ok? I only received my SS# and EAD last week so (5 days before AOS interview) so I prepared as much as I could in those few days....

  • My interview notice letter
  • My passport with all entry stamps in (could not submit I-94 online - My immigration attorney said not an issue)
  • All flight itinerates of previous visits and boarding passes
  • Copies of medical examination and vaccinations
  • Copy of I-864
  • Proof of Sponsors US Citizenship
  • My birth certificate
  • Sponsors Birth certificate
  • My step-children's Birth certificates
  • Our marriage certificate
  • Divorce decrees from previous marriage
  • Sponsors Child custody papers
  • 2012 and 2013 W2's
  • Tax returns for 2012 and also 2013 (filed married joint for this year)
  • Letter from sponsors employment confirming current rate of pay, weekly hours and overtime
  • Letter from sponsors employment confirming I am listed as an emergency contact
  • Documents showing I am sponsors beneficiary
  • 40 additional photos - including all wedding photos, a mix of us in social situations, some on our own and family photos with children
  • Extra affidavits from family and friends
  • joint tenancy leases
  • affidavit from Management of our apartment complex confirming bona fide marriage and listing all community events me, my husband and step-children partake in
  • Joint utility bills
  • Joint Bank account
  • Joint credit card
  • State ID Card
  • A letter from my step-children's school confirming I am registered as their step-mother and listed as their emergency contact

Do you guys think this will be ok? I have been going over and over making sure we are fully prepared. I also prepared a file of photo-copies of all the documents listed in case IO asks for anything.

Advice and feedback much appreciated... im a bag of nerves right now and willing Tuesday to just hurry on up and get here.

Hi, well it looks like you have everything covered, from what I have read on this site people are saying just to be your selves I know that it might be difficult on the day as you will feel like the pressure is on to impress the IO, but just try to relax as you have done the hard bits by compiling all the paperwork sending it in & then the waiting to receive an answer (which is where I am at the mo lol). Remember to breath every now & then lol.

Good luck

Brian

That list looks great, agree with previous poster that you have everything you need. I was a bag of nerves before my AOS interview but once we stepped into the interview room with the officer I felt strangely calm. I think because I knew I was at the end of the process and we were finally reaching that light at the end of the tunnel. Best of luck to you!

WOW, sounds like overkill. rolleyes.gif (I realize better safe than sorry)

Are all those things really necessary? We are just beginning the AOS process but when time comes I will not have nearly as much as you have. Please post after your interview.

Your goal is to offer up as much proof of your relationship/marriage as possible.

Even mail from family/friends from abroad sent to the both of you at the same US address is evidence so don't throw away those.

Yes, they are all very necessary. The majority are documents listed in my interview invite letter that USCIS have requested I bring. I guess when its all listed like that It does seem like they are asking a lot smile.png

Thank you Terry...

However bad news... my USCIS office is closed today due to bad weather.... im praying it will be open tomorrow for my appointment.

I am certain you will be fine. From what I've heard the interview is a painless process.

It does give me some concern you received a letter asking for ALL these things. I would have suspected it would ask for SOME of them. Due to the regulations of my service providers, (electric, water, etc) I cant simply add her name to the current account. So I hope to find other means to prove relationship.dancin5hr.gif

My husband could not add me to the paper bills for our utility bills either... he was told only one name was required. So he went to his online paying account for his utility bills and added me as an authorized user, and we printed these off instead... is that something you can do with your utility bills? Keep me posted. And just remember, what they list to bring is an assortment. They have an understanding that this early on in a marriage not all these things are easy to obtain smile.png

You will be just fine dancin5hr.gif

I only got SS# and EAD a few days ago so it has been a mad rush getting me and my husbands finances intermingled... but it is possible.

If you have any questions or concerns message me....

In the mean time Im keeping my fingers crossed that my AOS goes ahead tomorrow (office closed today due to bad weather), and I will let you know how it goes.

Yep.... we had the same problem... I got my SS# on Thursday and was added to my husband bank account this Saturday just passed.... literally 3 days before my AOS interview. Its so frustrating. I could not even be added to his credit card until I had SS#.

Have you got an appointment date through for AOS interview? Your wife should receive her EAD and SS# prior.

I haven't filed yet. we are doing the papers now. I thought I had to include with the application proof of relationship, ie, marriage license, bank documents, ect.

BTW, thanks for your advice. it helps a lot getting info from someone that has "been there done that" good.gif
