Planning to cross the border by car from Toronto to US

Hi everyone , I'm just planning ahead of time for crossing the border by driving my own car Toyota Camry 2009 (no financing nor leasing, but paid off) with K1 Visa, and load up with personal stuff. My US fiancé will going with me.

3 questions here:

- Travel Toronto to California >> Which POE is recommended ? ( I've never been crossing the border by car before)

- Do I need any forms for my car for the custom officers at POE?

- Is that ok to load up my car with personal belongings ?

Help please... !!!!

One requires a compliance letter from Toyota, check inside ur driver side door or the engine area, as there may be a sticker saying it is compliant. Some manufacturers don't or won't give u a compliance letter. When u call up Toyota, ensure u have ur VIN # handy, as they will ask for it.

A list of all ur contents, doesnt have to be complicated, can group things togther (ie clothes, electronics...) Many times they don't even look at it.

Many people try and get into the USA ASAP--cheaper gas!!

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied,that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Thanks for your advice. I'm just a bit confusing a bit the compliance letter and the sticker of compliance. Are they the same? Do I need to have either one of them? I meant, if I have the sticker at the door, do I still need to call up Toyota for a letter? If so, what happen if Toyota don't want issue the letter for me?

( I will call up Toyota on Monday . I just need more advices for now.)

Should be just 1 of them. if it were I--I would try to get the letter from Toyota--even if the car had the sticker, but thats just me.

We came in via Sarnia for his F-1 visa and no problems. We've crossed there since our AOS and had no issues either. Very nice crossing.

08/29/2013 - Email/text notifications received
09/03/2013 - NOA hard copies received

09/09/2013 - Biometric appointment letter received
09/23/2013 - Biometrics appointment (completed)

10/01/2013 - status online changed to "Testing and Interview"

10/28/2013 - EAD in production
11/06/2013 - EAD received
11/08/2013 - Interview/Approved with RFE for long form birth certificate

12/03/2013 - sent in birth certificate

12/14/2013 - got notification green card in production
12/24/2013 - Green card
