I have a spring break from my job as a substitute teacher in Canada from March 7-16 and plan to visit my boyfriend in that time.

I will be crossing by car at the Windsor/Detroit border. I'm very nervous about having a hard time with border agents.

We just filed the I129f this month and have yet to even receive NOA1.

Here is what I plan to bring with me to prove ties to Canada:

- the I129f package/application

- my last pay check

- a copy of the school year calendar

- a letter from an outside employer who I will be working for from April 6-14

I live with my parents at the moment and do not have any lease/rental documentation.

Is there anything else I should try to bring?

When they ask me the nature of my visit, what is the best thing to say?

Hey. Hope i can help. Me and wife have done a i-130 so we are in similar situations. I live in the US and she lives in Canada. She has traveled back and forth almost every month since June while, and we have received NOA1 since last year. From her experiences she has yet to experience any problems at the border. Make sure you are saying the truth and don't make them see that you are trying to hide something (which you are not) but i guess getting nervous can do that. just tell them that you are visiting you boyfriend for a few day and plan on returning on____ date. When she traveled she did not bring any of that except the copy of the marriage certificate and travel plans. And i think a few times she had her work ID but that all. She has crossed maybe 7 or 8 times, so don't stress it all and think about all the fun you will have. Hope this helped. smile.png

I agree with the above posts, just be honest. I visited my then bf every other weekend during the i129f process, so you should be fine. I do have one bit of advice to add though, I wouldn't offer any information unless asked. Just keep it simple.

Cheers!
