Hi guys,

I have a question regarding documents to bring for the interview. Do I need to take a copy of my fiancee's passport to the interview? And what other document copies of hers do i need to take to the interview? The reason I ask is because I have a checklist of documents to bring to the interview but it doesn't mention whose documents these are supposed to be (I know they are mine but do I also need to include my fiance's too?)

Look, I don't know if it works the same way in all countries but I had my interview two days ago and here's what I took to the Consulate with me:

My part (I'm the alien fiancee):
- 2 2x2inches (5x5cm or 5x7cm) passport-style pictures with both my ears visible;

- passport;

- ds-160 barcode;

- ds-230; only filed and printed part I, didn't sign it until I was there

- sworn statement; again, didn't sign nor write anything until I was there

- police certificates (the federal one and the state one) + copies
- birth certificate + copy

- email I got from the NVC showing my RDJ number (it's optional)
- confirmation email I got from the Consulate
- proof of relationship (view friendship on fb, skype history, pictures of us,etc)

My fiance's part (his mom was our joint sponsor):
- I-134 form;

- his employer letter (stating: when he got his job, whether it is a temporary or permanent job, nature of job and his salary) ;

- his bank letter (stating: when the account was opened, how much was deposited in it since last year, present balance) ;

- proof of citizenship (it can be a copy. he sent me a copy of his birth certificate)

Our joint sponsor's part:
- I-134 form;

- her employer letter;

- her bank letter;

- proof of citizenship (she sent me a copy of her passport biographical page);

- 3 last pay stubs;

- most recent tax return

Again, I'm not saying you should follow exactly what I did but that's just to give you an idea, you might need to collect all that and take with you for the interview as well, if the us embassy website doesn't give you all the information you need on how to get prepared for the interview, you should contact them.

good luck!luv.gif

I'm not aware of any consulate requiring a copy of the US Citizens passport, but each is slightly different.

For my consulate, the things I need from my US Fiancee are

  1. the Affadavit of support documents
  2. another signed and dated Letter of intent to marry (dated within a month of the interview)
  3. and the divorce certificate from her previous marriage

21 Sep 2013 - Filed i-129F

27 Nov - NOA2 email received (63 days since NOA1)

30 Jan 2014 - NOA2 sent to NVC (64 agonizing days) P.S. Apparently VJ doesn't care about accurate timelines.

11 Feb - Got Case number

24 Feb - Packet 3 Received and Submitted

25 Feb - Packet 4 Received and Submitted

29 Apr - Medical (Dr Cheema)

01 May - Vancouver Consulate Interview - Approved!

06 May - Visa in hand!

06 June - Entered the USA!

14 June - Married!

Depends on what embassy you are processing the visa application through. What country?
