I told my wife to have her medical in advance before the appointment letter arrives so we can check it off our list already. However, when I was reading the St. Luke's medical exam walkthrough, the writer said that the nurse kept her passport. I wonder if her passport was kept because she already has the appointment letter or if in our case, what I'll be bringing would be the NOA2 and the letter from the NVC showing our Manila case number (MNL). Does anyone have gone through this? Will my wife's passport be kept and sent to the USEM by SLEC together with the medical results? Please enlighten as we are still planning to travel outside Philippines between after her medical and before the interview. Thank you in advance for all responses.

I read that story before but based on my experience and from reading others' experience, passports are not kept after the medical exam.
Your wife should have her passport with her all the time during the medical exam at St. Luke's because nurses usually check the passport but they are not allowed to keep/hold it. Inside the clinic, there are postings on the wall informing the patients to keep their passports with them.

If that happened to some, maybe it was an isolated case.

SLEC does not keep the passport.

At the time that thread was posted, St. Lukes kept passports and forwarded them to the Embassy. That was standard operating procedure. In those days, St. Lukes would allow you to keep your passport only if you requested it because your interview was in the next few days.

However, St. Lukes no longer keeps passports.

As mentioned, SLEC doesn't keep passports anymore after medical. Also, the date of medical will dictate the validity of the visa, that is, "date of medical + 6 months", so just keep that in mind when planning for your medical date. :)
