Hello I am very happy to tell you that our visa has been approved!!!! Originally we had a blue sheet due to my fiancee forgot her police report and 2 5x5 pictures. We came back in the same afternoon to give the two require materials. And we were issued our visa. I will submit my detail review in a few days. We are very busy to prepare everything for the departure.

Another positive note is that the immigrant visa chief came out to congrats us. We are the first same sex visa approval in Vietnam. She was asking if we are willing to share our story. Good luck to everyone that have interview! It is very positive to same sex couples.

Can you read Vietnamese? My fiance wrote her experience in Vietnamese and I'm a bit lazy to do the translation. So here it is. If you do need it to be translate, please let me know.

- Nộp Folder 1,2,3 cho nhân viên khi đến lượt
- Chờ gọi đến ô phỏng vấn

- Phát cho tờ giấy ghi thông tin chuyển phát visa, mình điền họ tên, ngày tháng năm sinh, Passport number, địa chỉ, số điện thoại và gửi cho nhân viên trực ở quần EMS.

Your instructions were so organized, I wished I had that for my fiancee earlier. As I had to translate English -> Vietnamese myself so my fiancee could read it in Vietnamese. And my Vietnamese was bad... some of the wordings/grammars confused my fiancee :-( felt sorry for her.

But "Folder2", I believe you are wrong about "Vietnamese documents must be translate into English & be notarized". My fiancee argued with me about that too, but I told her not need to, as Consulate Officers can read/speak/understand Vietnamese perfectly. After the interview, I was right :-).

I read it somewhere states if docs were "not English" or "not Vietnamese" ; then they must be "translated to English & notarized".

This used to be arequirement and is still. Unless the consulate says officially that it is no longer needed done then everyone needs to keep doing it.

This document states that any documents that are not in English or Vietnamese need to be translated.
