Hey everyone,

I am in North Carolina and my fiancee is in the UK. We have been very lucky in the sense the that whole K1 process has just sped by for us. We submitted the initial application in late November and as of this week my fiancee has received his packet and will be scheduled an interview soon. I am wondering if anyone knows about how often these things get denied. We have plenty of evidence, we have photos from meeting in Peru, then he was living here for three months and I was in England with him over the holidays, I'm providing pictures, emails, and plane tickets. He is in good health, has no criminal record, and is very prepared for the interview.

I have lots of questions about the affidavit of support, as I am quite worried about my financial situation. From what I can gather, they do not take into account the fiancees financials, only mine. I am a full-time student and so I only make 13,000 a year, I have my parents as co-sponsors, who make 60,000 a year. I know that the 125% mark is 19,000 for a family of two. Is what I've got together enough? I have seen that some cases get denied for lack of finances despite having a co-sponsor. If not should I get a second co-sponsor? Also, can my fiancee present his bank statements/assets as extra insurance? Concerning the I-134 support form, do I need to include my tax transcripts AND my returns? Or is one or the other for each enough? On the other hand I have seen reviews that by the time the interview is scheduled you're pretty much home free?

I just want to know how safe it is for me to start getting things together for the wedding or whether my case would be considered uncertain. What are our chances of getting denied at this point? What can I do in order to increase our odds?

Any and all advice is greatly appreciated!

Short answer... You will be fine ma dear! You sound just like I felt when we were where you were at! You have more than enough. They don't even bother with looking at pictures or anything.

Regarding the affidavit, that is enough. You BOTH have to still fill out a I-134 though and provide the supporting evidence. Including the taxes (although my CO only took the tax stuff and didn't even bother looking at the bank letters or letter from employers)

"Both" meaning you and your co sponsor

Sorry, just to add.

- London does accept self sponsorship so he could show his bank stuff (but as I said before he doesn't need to, you have it covered) he couldn't self sponsor for the NEXT affidavit of support when you adjust his status after marriage (I-864) that has to just be you and your joint sponsor.

- Taxes, have him take the W-2, 1099 and the actually tax form itself (1040 is it?) they didn't take the W-2 for me but best to be safe than sorry! :)

- Interview certainly doesn't mean you're home free but you sound like with everything you have, it will be a sure approval. Providing he doesn't make any "I'm like a mail order groom" jokes :P lol

- chances of getting denied? Pretty much zero from what it sounds. JUST MAKE SURE THE I-134 IS THE ORIGINAL THAT YOU AND YOUR PARENT HAVE SIGNED. THEY WONT ACCEPT A PHOTOCOPY/SCAN.

Does he have everything else he needs? Where are you exactly at? Has he had his medical? Sent his readiness form?
