I want my parents to come for my wedding in the US.. My dad says he selected B1/B2 cause it says on the side that it is business or personal, he doubted B2 cause it says medical/tourism.. He said he is not going there for medical nor for tourism, instead it is personal cause he going to attend my wedding, that's his main purpose. Is there a problem with that? He don't have any business matter in the US..he already submitted his DS 160, should he change it? But upon researching to one of the official blog of USEM someone also ask if its okey to put B1/B2 even no business matters.attached here below the conversation. Hope VJ family can help me, i am worried that he selected wrong visa type and end up denied..oh no :(

Since he is selecting a business visa, I feel sure he is going to be asked what type of business and to provide supporting documents/evidence to support his requrest for a business visa. Best of luck!

He is not going to have any business matters in the US, seems were in trouble? Should i make a new DS-160? Could i still change it? Not yet scheduled but we already input the confirmation code, can it still be changed? But i heard some says its okey, but not from the VJ family, its from official blog of USEM, im just afraid that the admin of that official blog was mistaken only that's why im looking for some other answers here.sigh

B2 visa will be the right visa to attend wedding, its tourism and when they ask for purpose of visit. Just say vacation, sight seeing + attending daughter's wedding? I doubt he will only go there for a day or two to just attend wedding. Pretty sure he wants to go see around too? That's under tourism

I am going to assume you know, since the Phil. is a poor country a good portion of visitors, for whatever reason, do choose to enter the US and never leave, go "tago ng tago!" That is a filipino term for "hiding and hiding!" The main concern the CO is going to have for your father is to make sure he has sufficient assets and obligations to make sure he is going to return to the Philippines after his visit to the US and not stay! This has always been the biggest concern for the US and why many, if not most, filipinos that apply for visitors visa get denied.

I do wish you and your parents the best of luck!

Incorrect according to USDoS statistics. Over 75% of B visa applications from RP were approved in FY2013.

The above listed website is linked to this website,

http://travel.state.gov/content/dam/visas/Statistics/Non-Immigrant-Statistics/refusalratelanguage.pdf

and, the above listed link can be found under Item 7. This entire website is dedicated to the "Visa Waiver Program."

Now, item 1 describes the Visa Waiver Program program and it states, "The Visa Waiver Program enables nationals of certain countries to travel without a visa to the U.S., when the intended travel is for "B" visa purposes (tourism or business) for stays of 90 days or less, if the traveler meets certain requirements." Now, I hope we all know that it does take a "Visa" for a filipino to visit the USA for whatever reason.

I am puzzled about this information. Finally, if my statements are incorrect I do apologize!
