ladyliberty - My attorney is coming with us to the interview. I paid them to file for us, they've been with us throughout the entire process. I didn't know you could hire an attorney for just the interview part... it seems odd your "top dog lawyer" wouldn't attend the interview with you since it should be part of his fee to begin with.. weird.

Hey Tratsing,

How are you? Looks like you finally have your interview date. Best of luck for that.

I got my interview date a week back as well. Its for the 3rd of Nov. After 7 long months and we filed on the same date as well...

very excited for this..

Thank you! I had such a stress filled day today (my cat died at the vet going under anesthesia but the vet was able to revive him), I haven't had time to look over anything. I know it all anyway, and my lawyer is coming and has copies of everything so I'm not stressed about that. I'm stressed overall though, and I just want it over! Hopefully we get a decision on the spot. Our lawyer told us they legally have 4 months to make their decision, so it technically could happen. We go in at 10:15, I'll come here and talk about it when we get home.

Positive vibes to everyone!

So here is how it went. My interview was scheduled at 9:45. We got there around 9:00 but waited in our car until 9:25 then we entered the building. We went thru a "airport security" gate and we headed to the second floor where there was a friendly security guy checked us in by taking our appointment letter. He told us to have a seat and the designated IO will come out and call our names. We were the only biracial couple there. I was so nervous but hubby was super chill. He kept talking to me about random stuff to calm me down. Finally we were called in around 10:10am by a white gentleman in his thirty-ish or something. His name was Jeremy I believe. He shaked our hands and walked us thru a long lobby and while we walked he asked "how are u guys doing?". Hubby and I said "We were so hungry right now. We regretted that we skipped breakfast this morning" and we all laughed. When we got into his office, the first thing he did was to give us 2 bars of CHOCOLATE and said that hopefully it would help with our hunger during the interview. We were so surprised. We thanked him and started to feel relaxed. Then he swore us in and told us to have a seat. That was when we started to ...actually eat our chocolate LOL. So literally we were eating chocolate during the whole interview.

He then told me that because hubby and I were married less than 2 yrs, we would only get the conditional green card. Then he told us that he was gonna ask a bunch of "weird questions" on i-485 form which i answered no to all of them. We actually laughed a couple times during these questions, especially then"prostitution" part lol. He then asked if me my hubby birthday and asked hubby mine. Then here came the question that we were afraid of: Have u met his parents? I answered "No." and was going to have to explain it in details, but he was like "oh, ok". Then he asked if we brought any evidences. My hubby gave him the lease, internet bill, car and renter insurance, joint tax return last year and we told him that we had made copies for him. He was so happy about that, saying "oh it's good. Some people, just came here unprepared". He looked at the evidences real quick and made a comment: "Good bonafide, good bonafide." Then while he was organizing the evidence into the file, he asked how we met and when was it. We told him that we met at my friend party and blah blah blah 2 yrs ago, and he was like "oh good." And then he asked for the photos which we presented to him and he glanced thru them really quick. He stopped at a picture and asked us who was the guy standing next to my hubby in the wedding ceremony. Hubby and I told him that it was my hubby's best man. Then my hubby and he started chatting about New York and Finance and how my hubby did not have a good relationship with his parents and how the IO stopped talking to his brother. LOL. And finally he congrats us and escorted us out. 20' minutes after the interview my status changed to Card Production. Yay!!!

I'm so happy. It's now over for the next two yrs. i can finally put the overwhelming stress down and start enjoying life.

Trasting and Ladyliberty, how were your interviews? Please let me know.

macruff, hang in there! We'll be all greened!!! My tip is just to be relaxed, act normal like how u normally do with ur husband/ wife. If you are nervous, the IO might change his interview strategy.

Congrats vxb! :)

Our interview went really good. My husband had a lot in common with the officer so we spent most of it chatting about gumbo and cooking haha. He didn't say we were approved on the spot, but he said he was going to put through everything today and confirmed my name and address since that's where everything will be sent. I'm just waiting for the USCIS website to update!

He didn't ask hard questions, just each other's birthdays, when I last entered the country, if my husband has met my family, when did we meet, propose, married, etc.

I had printed my I94, which turned out to be a good thing since customs didn't write my entry status on the stamp on my passport. I was so glad I did!

Guys, I was approved too! It was the most ridiculously simple interview ever. My lawyer said she had never been to or heard of such a fast interview. Lol. Will give detailed version when I get home.

Congrats LadyLiberty!

Tratsing, my status changed to Card Production Order 20 minutes after the interview! ( and of course I got text and email notification about the change).

However the IO took away my old I-94 from my expired passport instead of the current one even though I gave him both. Not sure if it was a mistake or he intentionally did that :/

Guys, correction: I just checked my status again and now it says:

"Decision- On October 14, 2014, we mailed you a notice that we had registered this customer's new permanent resident status. Please follow any instructions on the notice. Your new permanent resident card should be mailed within 60 days following this registration or after you complete any ADIT processing referred to in the welcome notice, whichever is later."

Congrats everyone. My internal interview took 2 hrs but I kicked buttocks!

Now I wait for the 24th!

Congrats on your job interview Macruff! 10 more days to go!

Our IO said he would put everything in today, so I'm assuming he didn't since I didn't get an update? Or maybe it takes time for USCIS to decide and it's not the actual IO? Gosh, I don't need to worry over this!

Tratsing, don't worry. Maybe the IO doesn't have enough time to process your case (like he had to interview too many couples today?). I think the IO has the decision power, not USCIS at this stage.
