06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

Medical is valid for 1 year.

6 months

You are confusing visa validity with the medical. The visa is valid for 6 months from the date of the medical. The medical is good for 1 year actually, which is good to know come AOS time.

Hi Hank,

We are aware that our medical can be used for AOS if it's still within the year limit but the OP was obviously asking on the validity of his/her medical before his/her interview in Manila.

If you go to US Embassy Manila website.. You'll see this:

What is the validity of the medical examination?

Medical examinations are generally valid for 6 months. idea9dv.gif

Words quoted from:

http://manila.usembassy.gov/wwwh3218.html

Just curious Hank, if medical is really valid for one year, does it mean that if your interview is 7 months later, then you don't have to redo your medical?

What would be the visa expiration? I assume that the reason behind the visa expiration was based on the 6-month expiration of medical in the Philippines. I believe they are related

For USEM that is in reference to the visa as a medical that is 6 months old will not allow for an visa to be issued. Which still ties back to visa validity.

I know, picking at hairs... blink.png ... but the question was about medical validity... so I picked :)

The only problem with telling OP that medical is valid for a year by which the pertinent information we have before hand is the ff:

-We know that OP is still on K1 process.

-Thread was moved from K-1 Process forum to the Philippines regional subforum.

1 year doesn't apply to this, if this was AOS, I would go with what your pick.

It's just that, most members here tend to look up to our more seasoned members as infallible :). I am too:)

and it's also quoted here that you corrected all of us here that says 6 months to 1 year. What if OP, followed the one year and waited more than 6 months before her interview and only to know that her visa can't be issued coz her medical is more than 6 month old? (which is technically expired as far as K1 Visa process is concern)

I also want to clear this out that Visa validity is dependent to on medical expiration and not medical dependent to Visa validity, which goes to say that you can have medical issued without a visa but can't be issued a visa without medical. So, medical would be the basis here, i would say.

I would also note that paperworks validity varies and is dependent on which process you are in.

an example would be Birth Certificate or Marriage certificate from the Philippines which on the initial I-130/I-129F, plain copy of documents are acceptable but on the time of the interview, they are told to bring a NSO original documents.

Hi MsAnne! Please fill-up your timeline. Validity of medical depends on which step of the K-1 process you are in right now.

The only problem with telling OP that medical is valid for a year by which the pertinent information we have before hand is the ff:

-We know that OP is still on K1 process.

-Thread was moved from K-1 Process forum to the Philippines regional subforum.

...

True! Not easy to try helping somebody without a timeline on their profile. So, to clear things up:

*If OP is asking until when her medical results is good for, i.e. prior to USEM interview, it's 6 months. and this also ties up with visa / US entry validity. --- so technically, it's less than 6 months if we're looking at POE validity, considering the interview-to-approval lead time.

*If OP is asking with regards to AOS, it's 1 year.

The 6 month-thing is prior to interview, sis. And for CR-1s, your AOS is also adjusted prior to interview.

I checked your timeline and you were interviewed last July, yes? But you haven't received your visa yet?

yes sis i was interviewed last July 11.. havent received my visa yet and just tonight i checked my status and it says ISSUED already... so does this mean no need to repeat my medical exam?

may you please explain about AOS is adjusted prior to interview? thank you for the reply po.

yes sis.. i checked my status tonight and it says ISSUED already...

But you haven't seen your visa yet? I am not that quite familiar for CR-1 visa approval lead time, but 7 months before you receive it is a surprise (Anyone is free to correct me if I'm wrong). Anyway, once you get a hold of your passport, do check the expiration date. For K1s like me, our visa expiration date is "+ 6 months" from the date of the medical.

Perhaps other, CR1s/IR1s can chime in.

I would tend to say the embassy will want you to do a new medical, being visa validity is tied to the medical date.

The embassy will inform you to re-do your medical. They will not issue your visa unless you will do the medical again..
