Hello,

I am a (Naturalized) US citizen & my wife is on Green Card. I was a US citizen when we married so I sponsored her & my wife came to US. She now got the interview scheduled for Naturalization. Both of us were previosuly married/divorced. After first marriage ended for both us, we got married to each other. The interview letter suggest that she bring the following to the interview. I wanted to get advice from this community to find out if this list is enough or if there are any other documents that she should take with her (as safety). Your help is greatly appreciated Please advice.

Documents Listed in Interview Letter

  • This (interview) letter
  • Drivers license or state id card
  • Green card
  • Passport (in connection with entry to the US)
  • Marriage certificate
  • Proof of divorce for prior marriage of yourself
  • Proof of divorce for prior marriage of spouse

A huge difference in applying for the three or the five year. Former requires a ton of evidence, latter, just a green card, basically.

Which one is your wife applying for?

Hi NickD,

She is applying for the three year one. Since she was eligible to apply for Naturalization after 3 years, that is why we applied as soon as 3 year condition was met. So far we are thinking that she should have these originals with her at the interview. Please advice further any other recommended documents since it is 3 year case. How about passport size photo? Do they not ask for the passport size phot (to be later use for the Certificate of Naturalization)?

  • This (interview) letter
  • Drivers license or state id card
  • Green card
  • Passport (in connection with entry to the US)
  • Marriage certificate
  • Proof of divorce for prior marriage of yourself
  • Proof of divorce for prior marriage of spouse
  • Spouse Naturalization certificate
  • Bank statement showing joint bank account
  • IRS tax transcript showing Filing Jointly
  • Car Insurance showing joint insurance
  • Car title showing joint ownership

Thanks.
