Here is my list of documents for the Oath Ceremony. Does it look like I have everything?

1) Oath Ceremony Notice (N-445)

2) Valid Green Card

3) Florida State Driver's Licence (Government ID)

On a side note, I may have read somewhere that the final test at the Oath Ceremony is that the Oath of Allegiance must be recited in a perfect American accent (sort of like the English test at the interview). I'm not sure how true this is, and my accent is nowhere near American-sounding. Does anyone have any information on this? :hehe:

I'm finally a US CITIZEN There were 164 of us. The Notice told us to report 1 pm so we were there early by 11:30 then only to find out when a lady told us that the actual ceremony is 3 pm, we were all lol especially family with little kids but she explained that it's because the participants needs to go to security check to make sure everything is good to go. So by 1 pm we fell in line and we were instructed to prepare our N-445 form and green card. By the way to those who have not receive their N-445, fill it out and sign it on the day of your ceremony preferably at the Oath taking place because some people filled it up too early, so they had to changed it because it should be the place and date of the actual ceremony on the form. So I handed my GC (byebye greencard), I wish they should just let us keep it though as a souvenir in this long immigration process The officer then gave me a packet and an assigned seat number. It was a smooth process. The officer told us that if we make copies to our certificate, it should be black and white copies only, wonder why?. I'm very surprised that there's people there who did not agree to bear arms on behalf of the United states and they were naturalized, I think I heard it's because of religious reasons but I really thought that to become a US Citizen we should be willing to bear arms on behalf of the US Anyways, I am not in a hurry to apply for passport coz I don't have travel plans but will go to social security and DMV sometime this week for updates. Reciting the Pledge of Allegiance in perfect American accent is definitely a myth! That would be discrimination. Do you really believe that? Naw

Helloooooo, helloooooo. Anybody there, there, there . . . My 90 days come due tomorrow, morrow, morrow, orrow, orrow, ow, ow . . . No touches, touches, ouches, ches, ches, ches . . . Echo, echo, co, co, co. Sigh. Well, I guess the office is empty.

Just playing around after a hard day preparing a final paper for school :jest: :jest: . My neck is hurting so a status update interview scheduled text would have been a relief right about now . Seeing that they are so backed up in NY, you would think that they would be working overtime. LOL Anyway, goodnight VJers. :sleepy: . Hoping to get an update by Tuesday.

Today, 4 days after applying, I received my passport, passport card and certificate of naturalization all together in the mail. Way to go Minneapolis Passport Agency.

Earlier today, I received what I believe to be my last ever letter from the USCIS:

I now have my Oath Ceremony Notice (N-445) in hand and I've been scheduled for a judicial ceremony on the 15th of August. Did not think it would be that soon, so looks like you were quite right, Mistere.

I'm finally a US CITIZEN There were 164 of us. The Notice told us to report 1 pm so we were there early by 11:30 then only to find out when a lady told us that the actual ceremony is 3 pm, we were all lol especially family with little kids but she explained that it's because the participants needs to go to security check to make sure everything is good to go. So by 1 pm we fell in line and we were instructed to prepare our N-445 form and green card. By the way to those who have not receive their N-445, fill it out and sign it on the day of your ceremony preferably at the Oath taking place because some people filled it up too early, so they had to changed it because it should be the place and date of the actual ceremony on the form. So I handed my GC (byebye greencard), I wish they should just let us keep it though as a souvenir in this long immigration process The officer then gave me a packet and an assigned seat number. It was a smooth process. The officer told us that if we make copies to our certificate, it should be black and white copies only, wonder why?. I'm very surprised that there's people there who did not agree to bear arms on behalf of the United states and they were naturalized, I think I heard it's because of religious reasons but I really thought that to become a US Citizen we should be willing to bear arms on behalf of the US Anyways, I am not in a hurry to apply for passport coz I don't have travel plans but will go to social security and DMV sometime this week for updates. Since you and Mistere were curious:

USCIS allows you to take an oath that has been modified in a few ways.

-If don't want to "swear" then you can "affirm" the oath. Some people choose not to swear because of their religious beliefs or because of their lack of belief.

-If you want to leave out the "so help me God" part at the end, you can, for the same reasons.

-If you want to decline to bear arms or to preform noncombatant military service, you can leave this part out of the oath. However, you can't leave out the part about performing civilian tasks.

To do the first two, you just need to request a modified oath at your interview. To do the third one, USCIS says you need to get a letter from your religious organization. However, a lady from England recently sued USCIS because as an atheist, she couldn't get a letter from a religious organization. They refused to naturalize her for two years, but the Supreme Court ruled in her favor and she took her modified oath earlier this year. I don't know if this means that the requirement to submit a letter is now gone.

I seriously doubt the perfect American accent. I know a few people that were took the Naturalization Oath and don't have an american accent, but English is their first language.

Here is my list of documents for the Oath Ceremony. Does it look like I have everything?

1) Oath Ceremony Notice (N-445)

2) Valid Green Card

3) Florida State Driver's Licence (Government ID)

On a side note, I may have read somewhere that the final test at the Oath Ceremony is that the Oath of Allegiance must be recited in a perfect American accent (sort of like the English test at the interview). I'm not sure how true this is, and my accent is nowhere near American-sounding. Does anyone have any information on this?
