Just an additional follow-up, a poster in this thread commented that his (her?) local National Passport Agency in Boston requires proof of travel within two weeks of application, but does not appear to enforce it. It may be of no consequence, of course, but perhaps determine what the actual practice in your local agency is.

It's interesting to note that some offices don't enforce the proof of travel requirement, but it's really odd that some of the offices officially don't require proof of travel. They even tell you to ignore the proof of travel requirement that is mentioned on the phone when you're making an appointment.

I wonder what the reasoning for this is. Here are the offices that officially don'y have a proof of travel requirement: Arkansas Passport Agency, Buffalo Passport Agency, Colorado Passport Agency, Detroit Passport Agency, El Paso Passport Agency, Honolulu Passport Agency, Minneapolis Passport Agency, San Diego Passport Agency, Seattle Passport Agency, or Vermont Passport Agency.

Wow, another status change just a day later!

July 31st my oath ceremony got scheduled and they've sent me a notice with the date and time! I'm 95% sure it's going to be for the Aug. 27 ceremony, which makes me very happy (means I can go ahead and finally make travel plans), but I'm going to wait for the letter to be 100% sure before I do anything. I'll update when I get the actual letter in the mail.

Yeah, me too. I suppose it's possible, but the fact that they scheduled me within days of my interview makes me hopeful that the August ceremony might be a realistic possibility. I think if they were going to put me in the September one, I'd have stayed in line for another 2-3 weeks. In any event, we'll find out in a few days I guess...

When they called to tell me they lost the package it was about a month after we sent it in. They started looking for it right away I guess, and one guy at the post off just happen to look between something and found it. I can't remember what post office it was found at I wan to say in was somewhere being transferred but I can't remember.

That's 13 days away, I guess it's still possible for August 15th.

By the way, I've lived in St. Pete, Dunedin, Clearwater and Miami (Sweetwater), I miss Florida, but love California.

I guess I could always drive to San Diego, that passport agency does not require proof of travel. and maybe get a passport card.

Then again, extra $60 for expedited passport, $55 for passport card, $12 parking, two hour drive.
