Hi all!

I'm here on behalf of my Ukrainian friends. They won a GC and after all the paperwork have their interview scheduled. Question is - They've got our address as of people they know in the US. Should they have our address for where they going to live or not? Cause husband wants to go to Seatle, but they don't have anybody there, nor they have a place to stay. No job as of yet also. They have 2 y.o. son

Sorry if it's a little confusing. Ask if you have any question to clarify this situation.

Thanks

They don't need to give a permanent address yet, but they do need to provide an address where their green cards/social security cards can be sent to - I presume this is what they have yours listed for?

They can also change this address at their point of entry so it's fine if between interview and going to the US they do get a new address/you move/there is someone easier for them to get the cards sent to, etc.

One more question...

Is there any reason to be denied on a interview?

Yes, a number of reasons. To get the GC you need to fulfill the education requirement, pass the medicals, have a clean police record and be able to show the CO you won't become a public charge - the latter varies as some don't ask for evidence of finances but others do. As long as these requirements are met the person will generally get the visa, but if they are not met the visa will be refused.

Also...

The initial entry form needs to have been filled in without major omissions for example not leaving out a spouse or child under 21 on the entry; if the person is under a ban for a previous overstay they will not get a GC. If there is a a sham marriage for GC purposes or other indication of immigration fraud not only will the person be denied, but they face being permanently banned from entering the US. These are the usual reasons for being denied other than not meeting the basic requirements. There are probably others but these are the most common ones.

Hi Susie, we have a similar problem like Leith about address, (we want to go in a city when we don't know anyone) and we need to clarify some question please:

We are schedule for the interview, at this moment on the form we sent to KCC in address field there isn't an address (n.n.)

Now, we know that we must provide an address at interview, but we haven't an address in U.S. and we don't have relatives there. The question is:

- Can we give an address of an office for GC delivery? (For example I can rent a virtual office exclusively for mail (e.g. Regus do that), or contact a lawyer office and ask for this service) or the address we give for the GC must be an address where we are "physically"?

I thought also to a USPS P.O. box (for example) but I don't know how I can rent it before the POE (and if it's possible for alien).

Do you have some other idea to how provide an address (without knowing anyone)?

Ideas would be greatly appreciated idea9dv.gif

As far as I know USCIS will not deliver the GC to a PO Box. I'm sorry I don't really know what to do if you don't have someone they can send it to ... But there must have been other people in this situation so maybe a search of the forums will give you some suggestions? You don't personally have to physically be there so if you can get an office address of someone that should work, as long as it is a physical address.
