Just married... Very urgent, now what?

Hello all-

I know this is going to sound crazy, but because of so many hectic things coming up over the past 2 and a half months, my non US citizen fiance and I only today married- with her visa expiring day after tomorrow. We're hecticly filling out the i485, the g325, etc... but I'm stuck with a few questions.

For one, with the i131, is this needed? It's the form that allows for travel to outside the US. I'd really like to fill that out so she and I could visit Canada together while I work there for a few days, but I don't have official dates for the trip. I understand if I want to take her with me, this form is needed, but how does it get filled out for vague travel plans?

Another thing, we did not apply for anything at the SSA, as we were not intending on immediately changing her last name. Is this a problem as well? Can we still apply for her SSN in a couple days, continuing to use her maiden name?

Is it a big deal if the forms are filed a couple days late, even if we married within the 90 days?

If her I-94 expire then she cannot apply for ssn and must wait for her GC

First, her K-1 visa expired the day she used it. The I-94 controls her period of authorized stay after she used it, so its the I-94 that is expiring. The I-94 is now electronic, and can retrieved online. https://i94.cbp.dhs.gov/I94/request.html

The I-765 (EAD) and I-131 (AP) forms are free to file when filing the I-485. She cannot get a SS card now, as you needed to apply for that at a minimum two weeks before the I-94 expired. When she gets her EAD she can apply for it.The EAD will allow her to start working with the SSN and the AP will allow her to leave the country and get back in. These are temporary rights until the green card is issued or denied. They are normally on the same card which is refereed to as the combo card now.

Q3. How do I receive the EAD and Advance Parole card?
A3. You may receive this card when you file an Application for Employment Authorization, Form I-765, and an Application for Travel Document, Form I-131, concurrently with or after filing an Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status, Form I-485. You must file the Forms I-765 and I-131 at the same time in order to receive an EAD and Advance Parole card. Please ensure that you enter your name and address identically on Forms I-765 and I-131 that you file concurrently in order to receive the new card.

You don't have to rush with AOS, there's no deadline for that. It was important you got married within 90 days.

On I-131 just put Unknown where it asks for dates and duration. This is acceptable for people adjusting from k-1.

As previous posters metioned, you now have to wait for EAD to apply for SSN.

Again, there,s no deadline for AOs so you are absolutely fine. Take your time and make sure you read guides and aos related posts to avoid RFE's.
