Hi all! I just married my wife in Puerto Plata and wish to bring her to the US. I have done a good bit of research on this and now I am ready to start. I have a pretty good idea of most of what I need to get started but I would appreciate any feedback available. I have seen a number of guides of what to include with the CR1- I 130 petition however some discrepencies appear from list to list. I would appreciate clear direction on this to avoid issues. One particular thing is that I have seen my foreign brides' birth certificate needed at this stage and others not listing it. I also saw that we need additional proof(school record, church records ect.) of her birth date if the birth certificate was not applied for at the time of her birth-(hers was applied for 5 years after her birth). Any help with these and any other advice regarding starting off the process would be much appreciated.

We have ONE guide here for your exact situation,

so if you are studying TWO guides, I can understand the confusion.

Study this one:

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

Greetings to all. I was in the same situacion at first.( I'am Dominican)

My husband sent 1-130 form in november. Long version of Birth Certificate ( acta inextensa y legalizada) .

Not worries if she di not get her birth certificate at time of her birth, Mine was applied 7 years later of my birth.

Here was normal in the past, now it's changing.

we dont needed school record and churh records either.

Good luck.
