Hi, I am a green card holder and would like to petition a visa for my wife who is living outside the US. I will be able to get my citizenship in like 8 months and I am thinking about petitioning a visa for my wife as a permanent resident and upgrade my status to US citizen afterwards.

1- Do you guys think that the time that the whole process would take could be shorter than if I waited till I become a citizen and then petition for a spouse visa?

2 - If we get a baby while the visa's application is still pending what should I do?

Thank you in advance !

If you were a citizen right now and filed you are looking at 12 months and longer. Might as well file and get your petition in the system and upgrade when you can. Heck F2A's are getting approved faster than USC petitions anyway.

What do you mean what do you do if you have a baby? It doesn't change anything or expedite anything.

ok thanks for the quick reply!

So you think I won't have to notify the immigration services about having a new baby so I can bring him/her to the us along with my wife while my wife's visa is pending?
