I am about to draft our cover letter for I-130. One of the proof in bonafide of marriage is the marriage certificate. We got married last April 12, 2013 but in our marriage certificate it was written April 12, 2012. So what we did we have it corrected in NSO (Philippines) that took as more than four months to process. So now that it was already corrected I thought that they will issue us a new marriage certificate but sad to say that there was only a note at the side of the marriage certificate stating

" Pursuant to the decision rendered................. marriage licensed was issued hereby corrected from April 12, 2012 to April 12, 2013"

My question is this, since we are filing for I-130, should I explain it in the cover letter that we have a correction in our marriage certificate? Can I highlight the photocopy of my MC that I will pass to them and provide another copy with no highlight? All in all two photocopies of MC, one highlighting the correction and one no highlight at all? I'm so scared to get an RFE. Please help :) TIA!!

i would list the corrected certificate in yer document list in the cover letter,

but

include a letter of attestation about what happened leading to needing to get it corrected, where it was corrected, and what the correction 'handled'.

also - please note a copy of the marriage cert is all that's required for now,

so keep a copy of the letter of attestation, as you'll need it for NVC doc intake later.

So I have to send also the photocopies of the letter of attestation issued to NSO by our Municipal Hall to have it corrected? Or what you mean is we have to tell the story about the correction itself? Oh my, I do not know if I kept the copy of the letter os attestation.

no, the letter of attestation that I write of here,

is

something that the PETITIONER writes, explaining the discrepancy.
