I sent a Postal money order for $170.00 made out to the Department of Homeland Security. I think that saves a few days in the process because they don't have to wait for your personal check to clear.

They do not wait for the check to clear.... My check cleared on the 24th but my NOA1 was the 20th.

YMMV

Ok, I wasn't certain if sending a money order helped, but I knew it wouldn't hurt. I tried to cut every possible corner to save time. I even sent my petition in using Express Mail, figuring it was worth the extra $13 to save a couple days processing time!

I am not sure but it appears you figured wrong.......

I submitted mine 11-13 via priority mail for $4.45 and have an NOA1 date 7 days later om 11-20.

You submitted 11-15 via express mail for $13 more and have an NOA1 date 7 days later om 11-22.

It's the individual's choice. I paid the extra $$ to get mine there faster & it worked for me. Plus I had the peace of mind.

The point of this thread tho, is READ THE DAMN FORM INSTRUCTIONS.

fwaguy and JamesT,

The NOAs have two dates - a Receipt Date and a Notice Date.

Which are you referring to when you say 'NOA1 date'? It seems possible that one or both of you may both be referring to the Notice Date? Be sure that you are comparing Receipt Date.

For what it's worth, I used Priority Mail together with Certified Mail. It was delivered the next day (USPS delivery date) and opened the day after that (USCIS Receipt Date).
