Hey!

I was wondering if anyone can help me out with a couple of questions. I just want to be prepared, like everyone else I'm sure. I just have a couple of questions:

1/ Can my fiance come with me to the interview & if so what does he need to bring?

2/ What does "copies of documents providing petitioner's U.S. domicile" mean?

3/ I've paid a $240 fee online while doing my pkg 3 but I've read a few times that you're required to pay a fee while at the interview. Is this true & if so how much?

4/ Do I need to bring all of my previous paperwork (like our petition & everything) with me to the interview?

Also, if you can think of anything else you would think I would need to know, I would GREATLY appreciate it!

I'm trying not to make myself so nervous but so much rides on this!

Thanks so much in advance!

1. I think a lot of embassies will allow your fiance to attend the interview as well. If so, I think all he needs is proper ID. The interview is for you, not your USC fiance.

2. Copies proving US domicile would be lease agreements, deed / mortgage to a house, etc.

3. If you paid the $240 visa fee, then there shouldn't be any other fees aside from delivery fees for your visa.

4. Bring what the embassy requires, plus some proof of relationship. You don't need to bring a copy of your petition because the embassy will already have it.

Aslo, once this is approved, what do I need to do to apply for AOS? Are their any links to ehlp me with this process & paperwork?

This whole thing takes way too long and sometimes it gets way too confusing.

Thanks again!

Hi Jess,

I can't speak about AOS (I'm not there yet), but I had my interview at the consulate in Vancouver last week.

There was one other K-1 applicant that day and her fiance (USC) was with her. I think as such, they likely won't ask to see photos because your fiance is there with you. However, bring photos just in case. My fiance (USC) was unable to attend and my interviewer did ask for photos.

I was not charged another fee at the consulate for anything else.

They didn't ask a lot of questions, they looked through my paperwork to make sure everything was there and in order (unfortunately for us, our lawyer did not send the affidavit of support). They asked questions about how we met, our ages, our occupations, how long we'd known each other, had we met each others' families and that was about it.

Good luck!

Interestingly enough, the Packet 3 checklist for the US Consulate in Vancouver does not make any mention of the USC proving domicile (as in deeds, bills, etc). Only thing from USC they require is evidence of support and statement of intent. I sure hope they don't suddenly ask for this -- for us personally, we don't want to have any more speed bumps!

This domicile thing has got us a little confused. At this point I'm going to bring anything I can think of. I would rather have too much at this point then not enough! I will let you guys know how it goes after Monday. We're leaving tonight b/c it's a 10 hr. drive & going to make a little weekend vacation out of it! Woo Montreal! lol

Thanks for the help & input!

Good luck, Jess!

Better to have it and not need it, than the other way around. I took plenty of extra evidence, at least for proving the bonafide relationship, but the only items the CO looked at was some photos I brought, though I had plenty of other things she could have looked at.

I imagine having your fiance with you will definitely be a bonus -- both from your perspective, and theirs!
