Am I the only person who finds it odd that it needs to be asked if you met previous girlfriends in person before? Do people that meet online now outnumber those who met in real life? ;)

I personally have met all my girlfriends/lovers in person. The only person I met "online" was a from a time when I experimented with online dating services (local ones, not from other countries!), and the one date I had with her was a nightmare, so that soon ended!

Am I the only one who does not believe in the concept of "soulmates'?

Me too. Although I believe we have an innate sense of who we want to as a partner that can be felt even without a spoken word. I think falling head-over-heels in love with someone goes beyond just what appears on the surface - our complex minds are working in the background all the time. :star:

Luis was the second person I met in person after meeting online, but the first one was this brazilian guy with whom I was simply friends and we had our love for anime in common so we arranged to meet at an animecon, actually just a week before Luis came to Brasil the first time. We remained friends after the animecon but never met again. Luis was the only person I met online and had an interest on. Besides these two I met Mew and Jana from VJ on the day of our interview, that's all the people I met in person that I had previously met online.

Fely was the first and only I met in person. And no one else I met online even came close. I guess I just got lucky, though Fely says it was God's doing, so I won't disagree with her there.

My hubby is the only man I ever met up with face-to-face from any online relationships.

Before that I had more than my share of men I met in the customary manner.

I wanna know what the customary manner for meeting men is! ;)

You asked us to speak our minds, here is what I believe:

1.People who go from the US to meet women (usually) are losers because it means they cannot meet someone here;

2.People who meet through dating services and websites are losers because they cannot meet a person in real life and have to hide behind their money and dating services to get a partner. If they did not have money and no one ever wanted to come to America they would always be lonely and unattached. Granted most of those people they meet especially the fillipino women just want to come to America because why would anyone want some of the people I have seen going to Phillipines to get wives/husbands?

3.Women always come up with some funky emotional words like 'soulmate', 'dream..' when we alll know that as soon as the relationship runs into problem they will always say how much of a loser the ex was. We should never listen to some of these crappy names coming from women calling their partners because they only exist when the relationship is enjoying a high.

4.It should be against the law to go and get a date/wife/fiancee from another country,unless one proves that they totally could not get someone in the USA. A tax should be applied for getting a spouse from another country on your tax return to be called the 'homeland security tax'.

5.Getting a spouse/fiance from another country should reflect on your background and criminal checks, because this is betraying your country by not supporting the women/men already here who are without a partner, however fat and ugly they may be, yet such may not afford to go to Phillipines or somewhere else to get someone there, who may not mind their ugliness, provided they are from the US and have money.

What if their spouse is from Canada or Mexico and you live within 50 miles of the international border? Should the same rules apply?

Through friends, family, coworkers, a pub (or restaurant), the grocery store, work, the gym, the neighborhood, library, waiting for the bus, parent teacher meetings or boy/girl scouts meetings (if you have children...lots of single parents, unfortunately), post office, the mall...dang, this list is endless. I come across "new" men daily!
