If you read the intructions on each document/form, it is easy to follow. Hiring a lawyer is a waste of money. We were fortunate to consulte a lawyer for free in the beginning as USCIS gave us wrong information numerous times but even the lawyer stated it was pointless for her services as she could not speed up the process. It was easy enough for us to fill out the paperwork ourselves. There are even "sample paperwork" that has all the information filled out for different visas and all you have to do is input your own information. Even if something does come up wrong with the documents you submit, USCIS sends a letter back telling you what you are missing or what wasn't filled out wrong.

I agree with what most people are saying. If you have a fairly straightforward case, I would not use a lawyer. Years ago, I helped people with their paperwork and they were all approved. The forms all have instructions. I only hired an attorney for our case, because I anticipated an issue, which came to fruition. Good luck on your journey no matter what you decide.

I agree with most of these responses, lawyer is a waste of money if you have a straightforward case, no past criminal record, etc. We did our own papers all the way thru the process to citizenship with no problems.. but .. we also studied and studied the USCIS instruction pages ver batim and read lots of forums. Also, we had a friend who had a misdeameanor crime who explained it in depth, also notifying his fiancee of this, and informing the USCIS that everyone was on board about it, and his interview got approved with out any lawyer help.
